Photoconductor Unit

Before You Begin

Important

  • The surface of a drum is sensitive to light.

  • Exposing the surface of a drum to strong light (especially direct sunlight) can permanently damage it.

What You Need

  • Hex screwdriver

  • Newspaper or other paper

  • Photoconductor stand

    The stand is in the box at the bottom of the machine or on the back of the finisher.

Replacement Message

  • “Replacement Required:Cleaning Unit for Photoconductor Unit”

    “Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow”

    The color corresponding to the unit that needs to be replaced appears.

  • “Replacement Required:Charge Roller Unit”

    “Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow”

    The color corresponding to the unit that needs to be replaced appears.

Print the counter list.

Turning Off/On the Power

Detaching and Attaching the Toner Unit

CAUTION

  • The toner unit weighs approximately around 16.0 kg (35.3 lb).
  • When moving the toner unit, lift it slowly and do not strain your body. Careless handling and over exertion when lifting can result in breakage and/or injury.

Detaching the Toner Unit

1Pull out the drawer until it stops.

2Remove the screw, and then remove the cover of the cleaning unit for intermediate transfer belt.

Be careful not to touch the fusing unit because it may be extremely hot.

3Remove the screw.

4Open the front cover.

5Remove the two screws, and then close the front cover.

6Pull out the toner until it stops.

8Holding the grips, pull the toner unit out.

9Place the toner unit.

Do not place the toner unit on its side. Doing so may cause the toner to spill.

Attaching the Toner Unit

1Holding the grips, attach the toner unit to the guide rails.

2Secure the toner unit with the two screws.

3Push the toner until back into the machine.

4Open the front cover.

5Secure the toner unit with the two screws, and then close the front cover.

6Secure the toner unit with the screw.

7Reattach the cover of the cleaning unit for intermediate transfer belt, and then secure it with the screw.

8Push the drawer back into the machine.

Replacing the Charge Roller Unit / Cleaning Unit for Photoconductor Unit

1Take out the photoconductor stand.

The stand is in the box at the bottom of the machine or on the back of the finisher.

2Detaching the toner unit.

3Push the guide rail into the machine.

4Pull down the lever.

5Remove the eight screws.

6Remove the pry bar.

7Engage the pry bar at the points indicated and pull out the faceplate.

Pull the faceplate out slowly and evenly.

8Reattach the pry bar back to its original position.

9Holding the grips, remove the faceplate.

10Remove the cap.

11Put the cap on the photoconductor unit.

Be sure to put the cap on to prevent the developer spilling during replacement.

12Press down on the lock lever.

13Pulling the lock lever down, pull out the photoconductor unit.

14Hold the center of the photoconductor unit and pull it all the way out.

15Place the photoconductor unit on its stand.

16Remove the two screws, and then remove the charge roller unit.

17Remove the three screws, and then remove the faceplate.

18Remove the screw, and then remove the faceplate.

19Remove the support plate.

20Detach the front end of the cleaning unit for photoconductor unit and disconnect its connector, and then remove the cleaning unit for photoconductor unit.

21Reattach the connector, and then set the photoconductor unit's waste toner outlet diagonally.

22Mount the cleaning unit for the photoconductor unit by attaching the opposite side with the notch.

23Engage the support plate with the notches and attach it.

24Reattach the faceplate, and then secure it with the screw.

25Reattach the faceplate, and then secure it with the three screws.

26Attach the new charge roller unit, and then secure it with the two screws.

27Engage the photoconductor unit with the guide rails, and then partially insert it.

28Pull the lock lever down, and then push the photoconductor unit all the way in.

29Remove the cap and reattach it in its original position.

30Reattach the faceplate.

31Press the indicated parts in sequence.

Push the faceplate in slowly and evenly.

32Secure the faceplate with eight screws.

33Pull the lever up.

34Pull out the guide rail.

37Turn the machine on.

38Access the Adjustment Settings for Skilled Operators menu.

39Press [Machine: Image Quality].

41Press [Execute DEMS].

42Press [OK].
