Removing Jammed Paper

WARNING

  • Do not remove any covers or screws other than those explicitly mentioned in this manual. Inside this machine are high voltage components that are an electric shock hazard. Contact your sales or service representative if any of the machine's internal components require maintenance, adjustment, or repair.

  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify this machine. Doing so risks burns and electric shock.

CAUTION

  • Be careful when replacing the roll paper or removing misfed paper. Follow the instructions for these procedures properly. Not doing so could result in injury from the paper cutter inside.

CAUTION

  • When removing jammed paper, make sure not to trap or injure your fingers.

Important

  • When clearing misfeeds, do not turn off the main power switch. If you do, your copy settings will be lost.

  • To prevent misfeeds, do not leave any torn scraps of paper inside the machine.

  • If paper jams continue to occur, see When You Have Problems Operating the Machine, When You Cannot Make Copies As Wanted, and Other Printing Problems for details about how to solve the problem. If the actions recommended in this manual fail to eliminate the problem, contact your service representative.

  • If the error message remains displayed even after you remove misfed paper, fully open the front cover, and then close it.

  • Do not load paper immediately after you remove misfed paper from the paper bypass location. Close the front cover after you remove the paper, and then wait until the “Please wait.” message disappears from the screen before loading paper into the paper bypass location again.

Note

  • If a detailed removal instruction appears on the right of the screen, follow it.

  • You can also use the procedure indicated in the [Check Status] screen to remove jammed paper.
