Answering a Phone Call on the Machine
Connect an external telephone to use the machine as a telephone. You can listen for the sender's voice on the receiver before receiving a fax.
You can switch the reception mode automatically based on the time of the day.
When receiving a call using a line other than the standard G3 line (G3-2 or G3-3), the machine always receives faxes using Auto Reception.

An external telephone is required to use this machine as a telephone.
(mainly North America)You can also use the optional handset as an external telephone.

You also receive a phone call | Manual Reception The machine rings the telephone when it receives an incoming call. Pick up the receiver to answer the phone. If the phone call is from a fax machine, check that your machine is in the Fax mode and an original is not placed, press [Start], and then put down the receiver. |
You only receive faxes | Auto Reception The machine answers all incoming phone calls and receives faxes automatically. Use this setting on a dedicated fax line. |
