Placing unsuitable originals in the ADF can cause paper misfeeds or black lines, or result in damage to the originals.
Place the following types of originals on the exposure glass instead:
Originals with any kind of coating such as thermal paper, art paper, aluminum foil, carbon paper, or conductive paper
Curled, folded, or creased at the leading edge, or also at the tailing edge when scanning in 2-sided mode
Originals with perforated lines or punched holes larger than a diameter of 9 mm (0.35 inches)
Perforated or torn originals
Wet originals
Strongly curled originals
Stapled or clipped originals
Transparent originals such as OHP transparencies or translucent paper
Originals with adhesive tape, glue or paste stuck to them
Curled, folded, or creased originals
Non-paper originals
2-sided originals written in pencil or carbon
Strongly waved originals
Originals with an unsupported thickness or size
Pasted originals
Originals that can cause problems during scanning
Originals with damp-dry ink or correction fluid
The original might become dirty if it is written with a pencil or a similar tool.
