Before Using This Printer

This section explains how to enable encryption of transmitted data and configure the administrator account. If you want a high level of security, make the following setting before using the printer.

1Turn the printer on.

2Press the [Menu] key, and then select the setting items using the [Down arrow key] or [Up arrow key] key.

3Specify the IPv4 address of the printer.

  1. Select [Host Interface] Press [OK]

  2. Select [Network] Press [OK]

  3. Select [Machine IPv4 Address] Press [OK]

4Be sure to connect this printer to a network that only administrators can access.

5Log in as the administrator from Web Image Monitor.

6Specify the e-mail address of the administrator of this printer.

  1. Point to [Device Management], and then click [Configuration].

  2. Click [Email] under "Device Settings".

7Create and install the device certificate.

  1. Point to [Device Management], and then click [Configuration].

  2. Click [Device Certificate] under "Security".

For information on how to install the device certificate, see Protecting the Communication Path via a Device Certificate.

As the e-mail address for the device certificate, enter the address specified in Step 6.

8Change the administrator's user name and password.

9Connect the printer to the general usage network environment.
