Changing Administrators

This section explains how to change administrators. Supervisors can be changed in the same way.

Important

  • We strongly recommend changing the factory default password immediately to prevent information leakage and unauthorized user operations.

  • Be sure not to forget the administrator login user name and login password. If you forget the administrator login user name or login password, specify a new password using the supervisor's privilege.

  • Be sure not to forget the supervisor login user name and login password. If you forget them, a service representative will have to return the printer to its default state. This will result in losing the printer setting data, counters, logs and other data. Consequently, the service call may not be free of charge.

1Log in as the administrator from Web Image Monitor.

2Point to [Device Management], and then click [Configuration].

3Click [Program/Change Administrator] under "Device Settings".

4Enter the login user name.

5Click [Change] in "Login Password".

6Enter the new password.

7Re-enter the login password in "Confirm Password", and then click [OK].

8Click [Change] in "Encryption Password".

9Enter the new password.

10Re-enter the Encryption password in "Confirm Password", and then click [OK].

11Click [OK].

12Log out.

Note

  • The encryption password is used for encrypting data transmitted via SNMPv3. It is also used by applications such as Device Manager NX, which uses SNMPv3.

  • The supervisor can change the administrators' login passwords but not their login user names.
