Receiving an IP address automatically (DHCP)

Follow this procedure to set the printer to receive an IP address automatically using DHCP. The DHCP feature is active by default, so this procedure is only required if you have changed the default settings.

Important

  • When [Auto-Obtain (DHCP)] is selected, you cannot configure the IP address, subnet mask, or gateway address.

  • Ask your network administrator for information about configuring network settings.

1Press [Interface Settings] on the [System Settings] screen.

For details about how to access the [System Settings] screen, see Displaying the Printer Configuration Screens Using the Control Panel.

2Press [Network].

3Press [Down arrow key] repeatedly until [Effective Protocol] appears.

4Press [Effective Protocol].

5Select [Active] or [Inactive] for each protocol.

If the item you want to select does not appear, press [Up arrow key] or [Down arrow key] to switch screens.

Select [Inactive] for unused protocols.

Enable IPv4 to use the pure IPv4 environment of NetWare5/5.1, NetWare 6/6.5.

6Press [OK].

7If you use IPv4, assign the IPv4 address to the printer. Press [Machine IPv4 Address].

To get the IPv4 address for the printer, ask your network administrator.

8Press [Auto-Obtain (DHCP)], and then press [OK].

9Press the [User Tools] key.

10Print a configuration page to confirm the settings.
