Installation of Firmware

The program downloading procedure for the firmware varies from product to product. Please refer to the Firmware or Program Downloading Procedures contained in the Service Modes section of the corresponding Service Manual.

1. ROM machines:
After extracting the compressed files to a Disk or a special directory, program the firmware into the ROM by using the ROM Writer connected to the PC.Then replace the ROM with a new programmed ROM.

 2. Flash ROM machines:
 1) Downloading with a ROM Port:
After storing the compressed files onto a disk or a special directory, program the new firmware into the ROMs by using the ROM Writer connected to the PC. Then insert the ROM board containing the new programmed ROMs into the ROM board slot and upload the firmware to the machine.
 2) Downloading from a Flash Memory Card:
After storing the compressed files onto a disk or a special directory, download the firmware from the master ROM to the Memory Card by using the IC Card Adapter. Then insert the memory card into the IC Card slot and upload the firmware to the machine.

Zip Files

Most of the files provided by this site have been compressed. There are two types -- ZIP files and self extracting files. To unpack the ZIP files you will need a compatible unpacker. If you do not have one, you can download an evaluation copy from the WinZip Home Page. Many of these compressed files contain sub-directories and it is very important that this structure is replicated by extraction. Please insure that the "Use Folder Names" option has been selected before extracting to your hard disk.

Windows Self Extracting Files

In many cases you will find that the drivers are stored as self-extracting files. The windows self-extracting archives will take care of the sub directory creation for you. To insure that the installation process runs correctly, you should extract these files to a floppy disk or a special directory and install from it. These files will only self-extract if executed from Windows.
To insure that the self-extracting process works correctly, execute the driver files from Explorer or the command line utility "Run". When prompted to do so, enter the location you would like the files to extract to.
