This section describes the settings in [PS Menu] under [Printer Settings].

How to Use the Settings Screen

Setting Items

Description

Job Timeout

You can specify how long the machine waits to cancel printing in seconds (0 to 999 seconds) when job reception is interrupted.

You can select the priority of the wait time specified on the printer driver or by command or specified on the control panel. When you select [Use Machine Setting(s)], the wait time specified here will be active.

  • Default: [Use Driver/Command]

Wait Timeout

You can specify how long the machine waits to stop job reception in seconds (0 to 999 seconds) when the end of the job is not detected.

You can select the priority of the wait time specified on the printer driver or by command or specified on the control panel. When you select [Use Machine Setting(s)], the wait time specified here will be active.

  • Default: [Use Driver/Command]

Paper Selection Method

You can specify how the paper tray will be selected by specifying the default value for DeferredMediaSelection in PostScript.

When [Auto Select] is selected, the default value is "true". The paper tray that matches Paper Setting specified in a print job is selected.

When [Select Paper Tray] is selected, the default value is "false". The paper tray is selected according to the media selection of PostScript Language Reference.

Switching between 1 & 2 Sided Print

You can specify on which side of the paper to print when the PS command is used to perform two-sided printing and the "setpagedevice" command is entered.

When [Active] is selected, the machine cancels two-sided printing and prints pages after the command has been entered on the front side of the paper.

When [Inactive] is selected, the machine performs two-sided printing and prints pages after the command has been entered on the back side of the paper.

  • Default: [Active]

Data Format

You can specify the data format according to the data format to print, [Binary Data] or [TBCP]

This setting is effective when operating the machine with a connection other than parallel.

  • Default: [TBCP]

Resolution

You can specify the print resolution in dots per inches.

  • Default: [600 dpi (Standard)]

Toner Saving

You can specify whether to reduce toner consumption when printing.

  • Default: [Off]

Color Setting

You can specify the method to convert RGB data to CMYK data.

  • Default: [Super Fine]

Color Profile

You can specify the Color Profile according to the data to print. This enables printing in neutral color or gradation like a photograph, even in color, or high color reproductivity.

  • Default: [Auto]

Process Color Model

You can specify whether to use Color or Black and White for Process Color Model.

  • Default: [Color]

Orientation Auto Detect

You can specify whether to automatically detect the print data orientation.

  • Default: [On]

Gray Reproduction

You can specify which color toner is used to print the black and gray parts.

  • Default: [Black/Gray by K (Black)]

Font Change Confirmation

You can specify whether to display the confirmation screen when replacing the font type that cannot be printed.

When [Do not Display] is selected, the font type is replaced and printing continues without the confirmation screen being displayed.

  • Default: [Display]

Tray Parameters (PS)

You can configure the settings to change the paper tray parameters used for PostScript printing. You can specify this function if the machine is replaced with another manufacturer's machine for output without a printer driver in the basic system.

The tray parameter for different paper trays depends on the manufacturer. For example, if the Tray 1 parameter for the used machine is "4", specify "4" for Tray 1.
