Specifying the electronic signature

After installing a device certificate to the machine, configure the conditions for S/MIME signatures using a web browser from networked computers. (We use Web Image Monitor installed on this machine.) The configuration procedure is the same regardless of whether you are using a self-signed certificate or a certificate issued by a certificate authority.

1Open a web browser from a networked computer, and then log in to Web Image Monitor as the network administrator.

For details on how to log in, see Administrator Login Method.

2Point to [Device Management], and then click [Configuration].

3Click [S/MIME] under "Security".

4Select the digest algorithm to be used in the electronic signature next to "Digest Algorithm" under "Signature".

5Select the method for attaching the electronic signature when sending e-mail from the scanner next to "When Sending Email by Scanner" under "Signature".

6Select the method for attaching the electronic signature when forwarding received fax messages next to "When Transferring by Fax" under "Signature".

7Select the method for attaching the electronic signature when sending e-mail from the fax next to "When Sending Email by Fax" under "Signature".

8Select the method for attaching the electronic signature when e-mail notification is sent using the fax function next to "When Emailing TX Results by Fax" under "Signature".

9Select the method for attaching the electronic signature when forwarding stored documents next to "When Transferring Files Stored in Document Server (Utility)" under "Signature".

10Click [OK].

The settings for the S/MIME electronic signature are enabled.
