Setting SSL/TLS Encryption Mode

By specifying SSL/TLS encrypted communication mode, you can change security levels.

Using encrypted communication mode, you can specify encrypted communication.

Encrypted communication mode

Description

Ciphertext Only

Allows encrypted communication only.

Enter "https://(the machine's IP address or host name)/".

If encryption is not possible, the machine does not communicate.

Ciphertext Priority

Performs encrypted communication if encryption is possible.

If encryption is not possible, the machine's communications are not encrypted.

If the device certificate is installed on your computer, enter "https://(the machine's IP address or host name)/".

Ciphertext / Cleartext

Communicates with or without encryption, according to the setting.

If you enter "https://(the machine's IP address or host name)/", the machine's communications are encrypted. If you enter "http://(the machine's IP address or host name)/", the machine's communications are not encrypted.

After installing a device certificate, specify SSL/TLS encrypted communication mode. By configuring this setting, you can change the security level.

1Log in as the network administrator from the control panel.

2Press [System Settings].

3Press [Interface Settings].

4Press [Down arrow keyNext].

5Press [Permit SSL / TLS Communication].

6Select the encrypted communication mode you want to use.

Select [Ciphertext Only], [Ciphertext Priority], or [Ciphertext / Cleartext] as the encrypted communication mode.

7Press [OK].

8Log out.

  • SSL/TLS encrypted communication mode can also be specified using a web browser from networked computers. (We use Web Image Monitor installed on this machine.) For details, see Web Image Monitor Help.
