SNMPv3 Encryption

When using Device Manager NX or another application that communicates via SNMPv3, you can encrypt the transmitted data.

By making this setting, you can protect data from being tampered with.

You can configure SNMPv3 encryption using a web browser from networked computers. (We use Web Image Monitor installed on this machine.)

1Open a web browser from a networked computer, and then log in to Web Image Monitor as the network administrator.

For details on how to log in, see Administrator Login Method.

2Point to [Device Management], and then click [Configuration].

3Click [Network Security] under "Security".

4Click [Encryption Only] in the "Permit SNMPv3 Communication" area of the "SNMP" section, and then click [OK].

5Log out.

For details about logging out, see Administrator Logout Method.

Note

  • To use Device Manager NX for encrypting the data for specifying settings, you need to specify the network administrator's [Encryption Password] setting and [Encrypted Password] in [SNMP Account Setting] in Device Manager NX, in addition to specifying [Permit SNMPv3 Communication] on the machine. For details about specifying [Encrypted Password] in Device Manager NX, see Device Manager NX Help.

  • If network administrator's [Encryption Password] setting is not specified, the data for transmission may not be encrypted or sent. For details about specifying the network administrator's Encryption Password setting, see Registering and Changing Administrators.
