Using Erase All Memory

1Disconnect communication cables connected to the machine.

2Press the [Menu] key.

3Log in as the machine administrator.

For details on how to log in, see Administrator Login Method.

4Press the [Up arrow key] or [Down arrow key] key to select [Security Options], and then press the [OK] key.

5Press the [Up arrow key] or [Down arrow key] key to select [Erase All Memory], and then press the [OK] key.

6Select the method of erasing the data as follows:

  • NSA

    Press the [Up arrow key] or [Down arrow key] key to select [NSA], and then press the [OK] key.

  • DoD

    Press the [Up arrow key] or [Down arrow key] key to select [DoD], and then press the [OK] key.

  • Random Numbers

    Press the [Up arrow key] or [Down arrow key] key to select [Random Numbers], and then press the [OK] key.

    Press the [Up arrow key] or [Down arrow key] key to specify the number of times that you want to overwrite, and then press the [OK] key.

  • BSI/VSITR

    Press the [Up arrow key] or [Down arrow key] key to select [BSI/VSITR], and then press the [OK] key.

  • Secure Erase

    Press the [Up arrow key] or [Down arrow key] key to select [Secure Erase], and then press the [OK] key.

  • Format

    Press the [Up arrow key] or [Down arrow key] key to select [Format], and then press the [OK] key.

7Press the selection key beneath [Yes].

Depending on the method of erasing selected in Step 6, [Yes] may not appear.

The machine restarts automatically, and then overwriting starts.

8When overwriting is completed, press [Exit], and then turn off the main power.

Note

  • If the main power switch is turned off before "Erase All Memory" is completed, overwriting will start over when the main power switch is turned back on.

  • If an error occurs before overwriting is completed, turn off the main power. Turn it on again, and then repeat from Step 2.
