Excessive or Uneven Glossiness

When printing on white board paper, matte paper, uncoated paper, or glossy paper, the glossiness may become excessive or uneven.

In case of such a problem, perform the following solutions.

  • To adjust the following settings, pre-register the type of paper in use as a custom paper. For details about registering custom papers, see "Specifying a Custom Paper", Preparation.

(a) Decrease the fusing temperature

1In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, adjust the fusing temperature.

<Full-color printing>

Select 1241: [Fusing Temperature], and then decrease the value in [Heat Roller Temp] in [FC] by 5°C.

<Black-and-white printing>

Select 1241: [Fusing Temperature], and then decrease the value in [Heat Roller Temp] in [BW] by 5°C.

2Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

In [Heat Roller Temp], decrease the value by 5 °C.

3Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Proceed to "(b) Decrease the maximum image density".

(b) Decrease the maximum image density

1In the 02: [Machine: Image Quality] group on the [Adjustment Settings for Operators] menu, select 0202: [Maximum Image Density], and then decrease the value for all the colors by 1.

2Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?
