Copies two 1-sided pages or one 2-sided page onto a 2-sided page. During copying, the image is shifted to allow for the binding margin.
Paper sizes that can apply to Duplex printing are as follows: A4, A5, A6, B5, B6, 81/2 × 14, 81/2 × 13, 81/2 × 11, 81/4 × 14, 81/4 × 13, 8 × 13, 8 × 10, 71/4 × 101/2, 51/2 × 81/2, 16K, 81/2 × 12, 81/2 × 132/5.
There are two types of Duplex.
1 Sided 2 Sided
Copies two 1-sided pages on one 2-sided page.
2 Sided 2 Sided
Copies one 2-sided page on one 2-sided page.
The resulting copy image will differ according to the orientation in which you place your originals ( or ).
Original orientation and completed copies
To copy on both sides of the paper, select the original and copy orientation according to how you want the printout to appear.

Press [2 Sided/Combine].
Select [Open to Right/Left] or [Open to Top] for [Original Setting] if the original is two-sided.
Select [Open to Right/Left] or [Open to Top] for [Print Side Setting].
Press [OK].
Place the originals.
Specify the original orientation.
Select the paper tray.
Press [Start].
If the screen for confirming the original orientation is displayed, check the orientation, and then press [Start] again.
You cannot use the following copy paper with this function:
Label paper (adhesive labels)
Envelopes
Special paper 3
Coated paper (High gloss)
Coated paper
Thick paper 2
When an odd number of originals are placed in the ADF, the back of the last page of copied paper is blank.
You can also select [1 Sided 2 Sided] or [2 Sided 2 Sided] directly by pressing the function key. For details about the function keys, see General Features.
