Replacing Other Consumables

Refer to the maintenance guide provided with the new items for the replacement.

WARNING

  • Do not use a vacuum cleaner to remove spilled toner (including used toner). Absorbed toner may cause a fire or explosion due to electrical contact flickering inside the vacuum cleaner. However, it is possible to use a vacuum cleaner that is explosion-proof and dust ignition-proof. If toner is spilled on the floor, remove the spilled toner slowly using a wet cloth, so that the toner is not scattered.

CAUTION

  • Store toner (new or used), toner containers, and components that have been in contact with toner out of reach of children.

  • If toner or used toner is inhaled, gargle with plenty of water and move into a fresh air environment. Consult a doctor if necessary.

  • If toner or used toner gets into your eyes, flush immediately with large amounts of water. Consult a doctor if necessary.

  • If toner or used toner is swallowed, dilute by drinking a large amount of water. Consult a doctor if necessary.

  • When removing jammed paper or replacing toner, avoid getting toner (new or used) on your clothing. If toner comes into contact with your clothing, wash the stained area with cold water. Hot water will set the toner into the fabric and make removing the stain impossible.

  • When removing jammed paper or replacing toner, avoid getting toner (new or used) on your skin. If toner comes into contact with your skin, wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water.

  • The fusing unit becomes very hot. When installing a new fusing unit, turn off the printer and wait at least an hour after power off before replacing parts. Not allowing the printer to cool may result in burns.

  • Some of this machine’s components get damaged on contact. Do not touch the sensors, connectors, or other fragile parts that are shown in this manual when replacing consumables. Otherwise, a malfunction might occur.

Important

  • Replace the intermediate transfer unit and transfer roller together.

  • When installing the waste toner bottle and the intermediate transfer unit, do not tilt, turn upside down, or shake it.

  • Exposure to light may result in the lower performance of the black drum unit or color drum unit. Replace the unit as quickly as possible.

  • Do not pull out the black drum unit/color drum units quickly or with force as it may fall.

  • Take care that nothing comes into contact with the bottom surface of the black drum unit/color drum units.

  • When installing the drum unit, do not tilt, turn upside down, or shake it.

Black Drum Unit/Color Drum Unit

Replace the drum unit when the following messages appear on the display:

“Repl Rqrd:Drum Unit:Black”

“Repl Rqrd:Drum Unit:Color”

If the following messages appear on the display when you press [Supplies] while the alert indicator is flashing in yellow, replace the drum unit soon.

"Drum Unit:Black Replace Soon"

"Drum Unit:Color Replace Soon"

Waste toner bottle

Replace the waste toner bottle when the following message appears on the display:

“Waste Toner Bottle Full”

If the following messages appear on the display when you press [Supplies] while the alert indicator is flashing in yellow, the waste toner bottle should be replaced soon.

“Waste Toner Bottle is almost full.”

Intermediate transfer unit

Replace the intermediate transfer unit if the following message appears on the display when you press [Supplies] while the alert indicator is lit in red:

"Intermediate Transfer Unit: Replace Now"

If the following messages appear on the display when you press [Supplies] while the alert indicator is flashing in yellow, the intermediate transfer unit should be replaced soon.

"Intermediate Transfer Unit: Replace Soon"

Fusing unit

Replace the fusing unit if the following message appears on the display when you press [Supplies] while the alert indicator is lit in red:

“Fusing Unit: Replace Now”

If the following messages appear on the display when you press [Supplies] while the alert indicator is flashing in yellow, the fusing unit should be replaced soon.

“Fusing Unit: Replace Soon”
