Using the machine's Address Book as the LAN-Fax destination list

Using MFP Address Book Downloader or Device Manager NX, you can copy the machine's Address Book data as a CSV file to a computer. This file can then be imported to the LAN-Fax destination list using the LAN-Fax Address Book. This section explains how to use the Address Book for LAN-Fax.

You can use MFP Address Book Downloader after installing the LAN-Fax driver.

To use Device Manager NX, you must first download it from the manufacturer's website and install it on your computer. Contact your local dealer for information on downloading Device Manager NX.

Copying the machine's Address Book to a computer via MFP Address Book Downloader

Install the device certificate before using this function. For details about how to install the device certificate, see "Protecting Communication Paths via a Device Certificate", Security Guide.

1. On the [Start] menu, point to [All Programs], and then click [LAN-Fax Generic Utilities].

2. Click [MFP Address Book Downloader].

3. Enter the IP address of the machine.

4. Enter the user name and password if user authentication is activated.

5. Click [Import...].

6. Enter a file name, and then click [Save].

7. Click [Exit] to quit MFP Address Book Downloader.

  1. Launch Device Manager NX.

  2. In the section area, click [Device List].

  3. Click any category or a group.

    A list of accessible devices appears. If your machine is included in the list, proceed to Step 8.

  4. Click Icon illustration (Add Device) in the list area.

  5. Enter the IP address or host name of the machine.

  6. Select the access account that you want to use for access to the machine.

  7. Click [OK].

  8. In the section area, click [Configuration].

  9. In the [Address Book] category on the section tree, click [Template].

  10. Click Icon illustration (Add) in the list area.

  11. Click [Get Data from Device].

  12. Click [Select Device].

  13. Select the model of your machine, and then click [OK].

  14. Click [OK].

  15. Click the [Entry List] tab.

  16. Click Icon illustration (Exports data to CSV files).

  17. Select [Standard Format], and then click [OK].

  18. Specify a save destination and file name, and then click [Save].

  19. Close Device Manager NX.

Using the Address Book stored in the computer for LAN-Fax

You can import the Address Book CSV file on the LAN-Fax Address Book and save it as a LAN-Fax destination list. You can use it on the LAN-Fax Driver.

  1. On the [Start] menu, point to [All Programs], and then click LAN-Fax Generic Utilities.

  2. Click [Address Book].

  3. Click [Import...].

  4. Select the file format from the box at the bottom right of the screen.

    Select [RFA CSV Files (*.csv)] when you downloaded the address book using MFP Address Book Downloader.

    Select [DeviceManagerNX CSV Files (*.csv)] when you downloaded the address book using DeviceManagerNX.

  5. Select the Address Book CSV file.

  6. Click [Open].

  7. Select where to store the LAN-Fax destination list and enter the file name, and then click [Save].

  8. Specify whether or not to use the address registered to the machine first.

  9. Specify [Address Book Name:] and other settings.

  10. Click [OK].

  11. If the confirmation message appears, click [Yes].

  12. Open a document that you want to send, and then open the LAN-Fax Driver screen.

  13. Make sure that the [Address Book] tab is selected.

  14. Click [Manage...].

  15. Click [Add].

  16. Select the LAN-Fax destination list file (.rfa), and then click [Open].

  17. Click [OK].

  18. Select the name of the LAN-Fax destination list in the Address Book: box.

  19. Select the [Device Address] check box if necessary.

    Selecting the [Device Address] check box allows you to specify a destination for which [Use device address] is enabled on the LAN-Fax Address Book.

  20. Select a destination from the list.

  • When destinations registered in groups by this machine are inserted into Address Book, each person's destination is determined according to the following order of priority (check before inserting and changing the order of priority, if necessary): IP-Fax destination Fax number E-mail address
