This section describes the user tools in the Tray Paper Settings menu under System Settings.
If the specified paper size differs from the actual size of the paper loaded in the paper tray, a misfeed might occur because the correct paper size was not detected.
Paper Tray Priority: Copier (copier/Document Server)
Specify the tray to supply paper for output.
Default: [Tray 1]
Paper Tray Priority: Fax (facsimile)
Specify the tray to supply paper for output.
Default: [Tray 1]
Paper Tray Priority: Printer (printer)
Specify the tray to supply paper for output.
Default: [Tray 1]
Tray Paper Size: Tray 1
Select the size of the paper loaded in Tray 1.
The paper sizes you can set for Tray 1 are as follows:
A4, A5,B5 JIS, 81/2 × 11, 51/2 × 81/2
[Custom Size]
(mainly Europe and Asia)
Default: [A4]
(mainly North America)
Default: [81/2 × 11]
You can specify a custom size of between 139.5–216.0 mm (5.50–8.50 inches) vertically, and
between 210.0–297.0 mm (8.27–11.69 inches) horizontally.
Tray Paper Size: Tray 2–3 (Tray 2 and 3 are displayed when the paper tray unit is installed.)
Select the size of the paper loaded in Trays 2–3.
The paper sizes you can set for Trays 2–3 are as follows:
A4, A5, B5 JIS, 81/2 × 14, 81/2 × 132/5, 81/2 × 13, 81/2 × 12,
81/2 × 11, 81/4 × 14, 81/4 × 13, 8 × 13, 71/4 × 101/2, 51/2 × 81/2

Printer Bypass Paper Size
Specify the size of the paper loaded in the bypass tray when printing data from the computer.
The paper sizes you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:
A4, A5, A5, A6, B5 JIS, B6 JIS, C5 Env, C6 Env, DL Env,
81/2 × 14, 81/2 × 132/5 , 81/2 × 13 , 81/2 × 12 , 81/2 × 11 , 81/4 × 14 ,

You can specify a custom size of between 76.2–216.0 mm (3.00–8.50 inches) vertically, and between 139.0–600.0 mm (5.48–23.62 inches) horizontally.
Paper Type: Bypass Tray
Set the display so you can see what type of paper is loaded in the bypass tray.
The paper types you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:
[Plain: Hidden], [Recycled Paper], [Color Paper], [Letterhead], [Label Paper], [Preprinted Paper], [Bond Paper], [Cardstock], [OHP (Transparency)], [Special Paper 1], [Special Paper 2], [Special Paper 3], [Envelope], [Coated Paper], [Waterproof]
The paper thicknesses you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:
[Plain Paper 1] (60–74 g/m2, 16–20 lb. Bond)
[Plain Paper 2] (75–81 g/m2, 20–22 lb. Bond)
[Middle Thick] (82–105 g/m2, 22–28 lb. Bond)
[Thick Paper 1] (106–130 g/m2, 28–35 lb. Bond)
[Thick Paper 2] (131–163 g/m2, 35 lb. Bond–90 lb. Index)
[Thick Paper 3] (164–220 g/m2, 90 lb. Index–80 lb. Cover)
Default for "Paper Type": [Plain: Hidden]
If you select [Plain: Hidden], no paper type appears in the message prompting you to select which tray to feed paper from.
Default for "Paper Thickness": [Plain Paper 2]
Default for "Apply Duplex": [Yes]
"Apply Duplex" is available only when [Plain Paper 1], [Plain Paper 2], [Middle Thick], [Thick Paper 1], or [Thick Paper 2] is selected.
"Apply Duplex" is not available when [Label Paper], [OHP (Transparency)], [Waterproof], [Envelope], or [Coated Paper] is selected.
If [Envelope] is selected for "Paper Type", [Plain Paper 1], [Plain Paper 2] and [Middle Thick] are not available.
If [OHP (Transparency)] is selected for "Paper Type", "Paper Thickness" is not available.

"Apply Duplex" is not available when [Waterproof], or [Coated Paper] is selected.
The lock icon is displayed next to the paper tray if [No] is selected in "Apply Auto Paper Select".

Cover Sheet Tray
You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting front cover sheets.
After selecting the paper tray, you can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.
Default: [Off]
If you enable this setting, take note of the following:
When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", front cover sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the front cover sheet tray is always displayed.
Slip Sheet Tray
You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting slip sheets.
You can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.
Default: [Off]
If you set this setting to [On], take note of the following:
When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", slip sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the slip sheet tray is always displayed.
