Setting the SSL/TLS Encryption Mode

By specifying the SSL/TLS encrypted communication mode, you can change the security level.

Encrypted communication mode

Using the encrypted communication mode, you can specify encrypted communication.

Encrypted communication mode

Description

Ciphertext Only

Allows encrypted communication only.

If encryption is not possible, the printer does not communicate.

Ciphertext Priority

Performs encrypted communication if encryption is possible.

If encryption is not possible, the printer communicates without it.

Ciphertext/Cleartext

Communicates with or without encryption, according to the setting.

After installing the device certificate, specify the SSL/TLS encrypted communication mode. By making this setting, you can change the security level.

Press the [Menu] key, and then select setting items using the [Down arrow key] or [Up arrow key] key.

1Log in as the network administrator from the printer's control panel.

2Select [Host Interface] Press [OK]

3Select [Network] Press [OK]

4Select [Permit SSL/TLS Comm.] Press [OK]

5Select the encrypted communication mode.

Select [Ciphertext Only], [Ciphertext Priority], or [Ciphertext/Cleartext] as the encrypted communication mode.

6Press [OK].

7Press [Menu] twice.

8Log out.

2Display the “Permit SSL/TLS Communication” screen.

[System Settings] [Interface Settings] [Network] [Permit SSL/TLS Communication]

3Select the encrypted communication mode.

[Ciphertext Only], [Ciphertext Priority], or [Ciphertext/Cleartext] [OK]

4Log out.
