Specifying Basic Authentication

Before beginning to configure the printer, make sure that administrator authentication is properly configured under "Administrator Authentication Management".

1Log in as the machine administrator from Web Image Monitor.

2Point to [Device Management], and then click [Configuration].

3Click [User Authentication Management] under "Device Settings".

4Select [Basic Authentication] in the "User Authentication Management" list.

5Select the "Printer Job Authentication" level.

For details about the printer job authentication levels, see Printer Job Authentication.

If you select [Entire] or [Simple (All)], proceed to Step 7.

If you select [Simple (Limitation)], proceed to Step 6.

6Specify the range in which [Simple (Limitation)] is applied to "Printer Job Authentication".

You can specify the IP address range to which this setting is applied. Also, you can specify whether or not to apply the setting to the parallel and USB interfaces.

7In "Available Functions", select the printer's functions you want to permit.

8Click [OK].

9Log out.

1Log in as the machine administrator from the control panel.

2Display the screen for configuring Basic authentication.

[System Settings] [Administrator Tools] [User Authentication Management] [Basic Authentication] [OK]

3Display the screen for configuring Authentication Information.

[User Authentication Management] [Authentication Info] next to [Basic Authentication]

4Select the functions you want to permit.

[Available Printer Functions] Select the functions you want to permit [OK]

The functions you select here become the default Basic Authentication settings that will be assigned to all new users of the Address Book.

5Specify the level for printer job authentication.

[Printer Job Authentication] Select the printer job authentication level [OK]

If you select [Simple (Limitation)], specify the range in which [Simple (Limitation)] is applied to "Printer Job Authentication". You can specify the IPv4 address range to which this setting is applied, and whether or not to apply the setting to the parallel and USB interfaces.

[Simple (Limitation)] [Change Limitation Range] Specify the range in which [Simple (Limitation)] is applied to "Printer Job Authentication" [OK] [Exit] [OK]

6Log out.
