This is an authentication method for limiting access to functions according to a user code. The same user code can be used by more than one user. For details about specifying user codes, see Web Image Monitor Help.

Log in as the machine administrator from Web Image Monitor.
Point to [Device Management], and then click [Configuration].
Click [User Authentication Management] under "Device Settings".
Select [User Code] in the "User Authentication Management" list.
In "Functions to Restrict", select the printer's functions you want to limit.
To enable printer job authentication, select any option other than [PC Control].
Select the "Printer Job Authentication" level.
For details about the printer job authentication levels, see Printer Job Authentication.
If you select [Entire] or [Simple (All)], proceed to Step 8.
If you select [Simple (Limitation)], proceed to Step 7.
Specify the range in which [Simple (Limitation)] is applied to "Printer Job Authentication".
You can specify the IP address range to which this setting is applied. Also, you can specify whether or not to apply the setting to the parallel and USB interfaces.
Click [OK].
Log out.

Display the screen for configuring User Code authentication.

Display the screen for configuring Authentication Information.
[User Authentication Management] |
Select the functions you want to restrict using User Code Authentication.
[Restrict Printer Functions] |
The selected functions are subject to User Code authentication. User Code authentication is not applied to the functions not selected.

To enable printer job authentication, set [Restrict Other Functions] to an option other than [PC Control].
If necessary, specify the level for printer job authentication.

If you select [Simple (Limitation)], specify the range in which [Simple (Limitation)] is applied to "Printer Job Authentication". You can specify the IPv4 address range to which this setting is applied, and whether or not to apply the setting to the parallel and USB interfaces.
