Cleaning the Paper Tray and Paper Feed Roller

If the paper tray or paper feed roller is dirty, a multi-feed or misfeed might occur. Clean these parts by following the cleaning procedure for Tray 1 described below. The cleaning procedure is the same for the optional paper feed units.

1Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.

2Remove all the cables from the printer.

3Pull the tray carefully until it stops, lift the front side of the tray, and then pull it out of the printer.

Do not put the printer on an unstable or tilted surface.

If the printer is equipped with the optional paper feed unit, do not move the printer and unit together as they are not securely attached.

When lifting the printer, confirm that the optional paper feed unit is not attached to the printer.

7Wipe the rubber part of the roller with a soft damp cloth. After that, wipe it with a dry cloth to remove the moisture.

Do not slide the paper tray in with force. If you do, the front and side guides might move.

9Firmly insert the plug of the power cord into the wall socket. Connect all the interface cables that were removed.

10Turn the main power switch on.

Note

  • Follow the same procedure to clean the paper feed roller of the optional paper feed unit.
