Connecting the handset enables you to use the machine as a telephone and to easily switch the reception mode when a telephone call arrives.
For details about switching the reception mode, see "Reception Modes", Fax.
Be sure to attach the handset to the back of the left side of the machine. Be careful not to obstruct the machine's vents at the front on the same side.
Do not apply strong impact or force to the handset bracket. Doing so may damage the bracket. The maximum force allowable is approx. 50 N (approx. 5 kgf). (N = Newton, kgf = Kilogram force. 1 kgf = 9.8 N.)
When you fix the handset cradle to the handset bracket, do not screw it too tightly. Doing so may damage the cradle or bracket.
A ferrite core is attached to the handset cord to reduce noise. Do not remove the ferrite core.
