If the Image Cannot Be Printed as Intended

TIFF data or CALS data is reduced (or enlarged) when printed.

This problem is caused by a difference in resolution between the machine and the TIFF/CALS data. Specify the same resolution as that of the TIFF data using the RTIFF Menu settings or a printing option. If the same resolution as that of the TIFF data is not found in the setting items, or if the image is composed of elements of more than one resolution, specify "On" for "T. Auto R/E to Scanned Image Size" on the RTIFF Menu, or specify the “tifffit” printing option.

The image is moved toward a certain edge of the paper when printed.

Specify either of the following:

  • "Edge to Edge" for "S. Printable Area" on the RTIFF Menu.

  • The “maxarea” printing option

  • "On" for "O. Centring" on the RTIFF Menu.

  • The “center” printing option

It is recommended to specify either of these settings or printing options when printing drawing data.

TIFF data or CALS data in portrait orientation is printed in landscape orientation, and parts of the image are trimmed.

This problem may occur when "Portrait" is selected as the default in "5. Orientation" on the RTIFF Menu. In order to print data in horizontal orientation correctly on the paper, specify "Landscape" in "5. Orientation", or specify the “landscape” printing option.

Such image can also be printed on the paper in the appropriate orientation matching the data by selecting "On" for "U. Auto Paper Select" on the RTIFF Menu or by specifying the “autopaper” printing option.

Auto paper input location selection cannot be specified.

Select "On" for "U. Auto Paper Select" on the RTIFF Menu, or specify the “autopaper” printing option.

A paper size one larger than desired is selected by auto paper input location selection.

Some TIFF data created by scanning originals may be created in a size slightly larger than the specified regular size.

Select "On" for "U. Auto Paper Select" on the RTIFF Menu and then specify " V. Auto Ppr Select: Margin Tolerance ", or specify “tolerance” in the “autopaper” printing option.

Example of the printing option: autopaper=10%

Printing is not performed as intended.

Print the error message and resolve the cause of the problem accordingly.

If the Printer Language is switched to another language, or if the printer is turned off, details of the error message are cleared. To print the details of the error in such cases, select "On" for "Q. Print Error Message" on the RTIFF Menu or specify the “errorprint” printing option “errorprint”, and then print the erroneous TIFF data again.

For details about error messages, see Error Messages.

Only some of the pages in TIFF data composed of a large number of pages are printed.

The amount of memory allocated for RTIFF is insufficient to process the data.

Specify "Hard Disk" for "W. Data Buffer" on the RTIFF Menu, or specify the “diskbuffer” printing option.

TIFF or CALS data is too large to print on large paper.

The amount of memory allocated for RTIFF is insufficient to process the data.

Specify "Hard Disk" for "W. Data Buffer" on the RTIFF Menu, or specify the “diskbuffer” printing option. It may take a long time to process a large volume of data. If the Data In lamp is flashing, the data has been received successfully by the machine. Wait for a while.

It takes a long time to print an image when "T. Auto R/E to Scanned Image Size" is enabled on the RTIFF Menu or when the “tifffit” printing option is specified.

The resolution of the TIFF or CALS data is different from the resolution of the machine, and the reduction/enlargement process is taking a long time.

Specify the same resolution as that of the TIFF or CALS data on the RTIFF Menu or in the printing options.

You want to remove the shadows produced near the edges of the created (scanned) TIFF data.

Specify "A. Right Margin" and/or "C. Bottom Margin" on the RTIFF Menu, or specify the “rightspace” or “bottomspace” printing option.

Only the shadows near the bottom and right edges of the TIFF data are removed by filling them in white. Any shadows on the left and top edges cannot be removed.

You want images up to A3 in size to be printed at full size, but images larger than A3 to be reduced to and printed as A3.

Specify "Reduce to A3" for "b. Auto Reduce" on the RTIFF Menu, or specify “autoreduce=A3” using the “autoreduce” printing option.

The size of the TIFF data to be printed cannot be detected correctly, if the resolution of the TIFF data to be printed differs from the resolution of the machine. In such cases, see “TIFF data is reduced (or enlarged) when printed”, and modify the settings or data accordingly. If you want to also specify “Auto Paper Select” at the same time, specify "On" in "U. Auto Paper Select" on the RTIFF Menu or specify the “autopaper” printing option.

You want to print in a manner similar to “Aggregate Print” in the PS driver.

In order to print data in a manner similar to “Aggregate Print”, specify " H. Multipages Per Sheet: No. of Col. " or " I. Multipages Per Sheet: No. of Rows " on the RTIFF Menu, or specify the “multicols” and/or “multirows” printing options.

You want to specify the number of copies to print for all pages contained in a multi TIFF data file.

Use the “qty” printing option to specify the number of copies to be printed. In order to specify this printing option, also specify “pjl=on” at the same time.

You want to specify a printing option in the “lpr” printing command.

About how to use the print commands, see Connecting the Machine/ System Settings for details.

Print data cannot be properly printed, or the printer does not respond when print data is transferred.

An error may have occurred. Print the error message and check the details of the error. For details, see Error Messages.
