Wireless LAN Configuration

Important

  • To use Wireless LAN, you must set the IP address, subnet mask, gateway address, Frame Type (NW), and active protocol. For details, see Ethernet Configuration.

  • For details about Wireless LAN settings and their default values, see Interface Settings. These items appear in the [Wireless LAN] under [Interface Settings] menu.

  • Ethernet and Wireless LAN cannot be used at the same time.

1Press [Interface Settings] on the [System Settings] screen.

For details about how to access the [System Settings] screen, see Displaying the Printer Configuration Screens Using the Control Panel.

2Press [Wireless LAN].

3Press [Communication Mode].

4Select the transmission mode of Wireless LAN, and then press [OK].

5If [Communication Mode] is set to [802.11 Ad-hoc Mode], specify the channel to use for transmission. Press [Ad-hoc Channel].

Ask your network administrator for the channel to specify.

6Select the Ad-hoc channel, and then press [OK].

Select an Ad-hoc channel according to the IEEE 802.11 standard you are using.

  • When using IEEE 802.11 b/g:

    • Region A icon (mainly Europe and Asia)
      1–13 channels

    • Region B icon (mainly North America)
      1–11 channels

  • When using IEEE 802.11 a:

    36, 40, 44 and 48 channels

7Press the [User Tools] key.

8Print a configuration page to confirm the settings.
