Check that the upper lamp is lit.
If the lower lamp is lit, close the front cover, wait for five seconds, and then open it.
Unlock the lever, and then pull out the drum unit.
Pull out the misfed master from the clamp.
If you still cannot remove the master, open the clamp by releasing the lock lever at the back of the drum unit as you pull out the master.
Push the drum until it can go no further and locks into place, and then lower the lock lever.
Close the front cover.

Preventing paper misfeeds
If paper is curled or the margin on the leading edge of the original is too narrow, perform the following:
Before loading paper, flatten curled paper as shown below.
If the leading edge margin of the original is less than 5 mm (0.2 inches) or there is a solid image on the leading edge, make sure that the edge with the wider margin goes in first. Alternately, create a leading edge margin on a duplicate of the original, and then print the duplicate.
