Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 - USB

Important

  • Manage Printers permission is required to install the drivers. Log on as an Administrators group member.

  • You can install the printer driver from the CD-ROM provided with this machine or download it from the manufacturer's Web site.

If the printer driver has already been installed, and plug and play is enabled, the icon of the machine connected to the "USB" port is added to the [Devices and Printers] window.

If the printer driver is not installed, follow the plug-and-play instructions of the machine to install it from the CD-ROM provided with this machine.

1Check that the power of the machine is off.

2Connect the machine and computer using a USB cable.

Connect the USB cable firmly.

3Turn on the power of the machine.

4Click [Devices and Printers] from the [Start] menu.

[Devices and Printers] window appears.

5In [Unspecified], double-click the name of the machine whose driver you want to install.

6Click the [Hardware] tab in the printer properties dialog box.

7Select the name of the machine whose driver you want to install, and then click [Properties].

8Click [Change settings].

9Click the [Driver] tab.

10Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

If the [AutoPlay] dialog box appears, click the [Close] button.

11Click [Update Driver...].

12Click [Browse my computer for driver software].

13Click [Browse] to select the printer driver location.

If the CD-ROM drive is D, the source files of the printer driver are stored in the following locations:

  • PCL 5e

    • 32bit-driver

      D:\X86\DRIVERS\PCL5E\XP_VISTA\(language)\DISK1

    • 64bit-driver

      D:\X64\DRIVERS\PCL5E\X64\(language)\DISK1

  • PCL 6

    • 32bit-driver

      D:\X86\DRIVERS\PCL6\XP_VISTA\MUI\DISK1

    • 64bit-driver

      D:\X64\DRIVERS\PCL6\X64\MUI\DISK1

The PCL 6 printer driver is installed in the language specified by your operating system.

14Click [Next].

If [Windows can't verify the publisher of this software] display appears in the installation, click [Install this driver software anyway].

15Click [Close].

If installation is successful, the icon of the machine connected to the "USB001" port is added to the [Devices and Printers] window.

Note

  • To disable Auto Run, press the left Shift key when inserting the CD-ROM into the drive and keep it pressed until the computer finishes reading from the CD-ROM.

  • The number after "USB" varies depending on the number of printers connected.
