If You Have Problems Using the Facsimile Function

This section explains likely causes of and possible solutions for transmission and reception-related problems.

Receiving is impossible though transmission is possible.

The machine failed to print received fax documents.

  • The machine cannot print due to a cause such as running out of paper.

    Load paper into the tray. See Loading Paper.

  • None of the trays contain the right size of paper for printing faxes.

    Load paper of the required size in one of the trays.

Sent images are spotty.

The exposure glass, scanning glass, or ADF is dirty

Document appears blank at the other end.

The original was placed upside down.

Place it correctly. See Setting and Placing Originals.

Both transmission and receiving are impossible.

The modular cable may be disconnected.

Make sure that the modular cord is correctly connected. See Connecting the Machine to a Telephone Line and Telephone.
