Banding in Solid-Fill Areas Printed with Metallic (Gold) Toner

Cause:

Due to the fluctuations in the speed of the intermediate transfer belt in the paper transfer unit and paper feed speed fluctuation, toner adhesion fluctuates, causing banding.

Occurrence conditions:

This may occur when printing is performed on thick paper using metallic toner.

This is particularly noticeable with gold toner. It may also occur with silver toner, but is less noticeable due to its relatively low visibility.

Solutions:

You can resolve the problem by decreasing the line speed of the paper transfer belt. In [Detailed settings] for custom paper, select 1341: [Speed Adjustment], and then make adjustments in 01: [Transfer Timing Roller] and 02: [Paper Transfer Belt] in the following combinations, print the image to check the results, and then select the best combination among them.

1341-01 [Transfer Timing Roller]

Note

  • Errors may occur depending on the degree of adjustment and conditions. In such a case, contact your service representative.

  • Decreasing the paper transfer roller speed may cause the image to expand or contract in the subscanning direction. Such a problem may be resolved by increasing the value for [Image Magnification] in [Manual Adjustment] in [Adjust image position] on the [Media] hub.
