Uneven Density (Textured Paper)

Excessive Density on Indentations (in Halftone Areas)

Cause:

White spots on indentations are caused by setting the paper transfer voltage too low. Excessive density on indentations is caused by setting the paper transfer voltage too high.

Occurrence conditions:

  • Heavily textured paper is used.

  • Thick paper is used.

  • Documents with a small image area are printed continuously.

Solution:

(a) Adjust the textured paper mode

1In [Detailed settings] for the custom paper you are using, select 1218: [Paper Transfer Output], and then set 01: [Output Mode] to [Textured Paper].

2Select 1231: [Print Speed], and then set the following corresponding settings to [Low].

  • 1231-02: Print Speed: FCS: Clear/Special

  • 1231-03: Print Speed: FCS: White

  • 1231-04: Print Speed: FCS: Metallic

3Print and check if J032 (paper jam due to failure to separate) occurs.

6Select the best setting from among those with which you have printed.

(b) Execute Toner Refreshing.

1Print 30 sheets of solid-fill images with 100% density for each color of CMYK.

(c) Adjust the paper transfer setting

1Register the paper in the custom paper profile.

2In [Detailed settings] for custom paper, adjust the paper transfer output in 1214: [Paper Transfer Output].

(d) Adjust the image (intermediate) transfer output.

In [Detailed settings] for the custom paper you are using, select 1212: [Image Transfer Output], and then decrease the value in the following corresponding settings by 1.

1212-02: Image Transfer Output: FC/FCS: Black

1212-03: Image Transfer Output: FC/FCS: Cyan

1212-04: Image Transfer Output: FC/FCS: Magenta

  • Increasing the toner adhesion affects the page yield.

  • Select "Clear/Special" when using Neon Yellow, Neon Pink, or Invisible Red. Select "Metallic" when using Gold or Silver.
