Preventing Information Leaks by Sending Data to a Wrong Destination

A broadcast transmission is sent in two separate transmissions when more than one destination is specified.

The specified destinations include destinations specified with or without S/MIME authentication.

The machine sends an encrypted e-mail and normal e-mail separately.

When you append a signature to an e-mail using S/MIME, the e-mail address specified as [Sender] is not specified in the "From" field.

This behavior is specified in the specifications of the machine when S/MIME is enabled.

When S/MIME is enabled, [Sender] is specified as "Reply-to" and the machine administrator is specified in "From".

Restoration of the divided e-mails is not supported at the destination, and the recipient cannot restore the original file.

The cause varies depending on the computer environment.

  • Decrease the resolution in [Send Settings][Resolution] so that the file size of the scanned image does not exceed the maximum value specified in [Maximum Email Size].

  • Increase the value specified in [Maximum Email Size] within the range allowed on the SMTP server or specify [No] or [Yes (per Page)] in [Divide & Send Email] in [Settings][Scanner Settings][Sending Settings][Email (Size)].

  • If the recipient can use another e-mail client, forward and receive the divided e-mails in a different e-mail client, and restore the original file.

The Web browser does not start when the recipient clicks the URL in the sent e-mail, and the document cannot be displayed.

The cause varies depending on the computer environment.

Perform the operation again. If the document still cannot be displayed, copy the URL and paste it in the address bar of the Web browser.
