Print Settings

This section describes the items that are available on [Print Settings].

Machine Modes

This section describes the items that are available on [Machine Modes] under [Print Settings].

Items

Description

Copies

Specify the number of copies when printing without using the printer driver.

  • Default: [1]

Page Size

Specify the default paper size.

RegionA icon (mainly Europe and Asia)

  • Default: [A4]

RegionB icon (mainly North America)

  • Default: [81/2 × 11]

Edge to Edge Print

Specify whether to remove trailing, top, or bottom margins when printing a document.

  • Default: [Off]

Duplex

Specify whether to print on both sides of a sheet. To print on both sides, specify the binding method.

  • Default: [Off]

Rotate by 180 Degrees

Specify whether to rotate the print image by 180 degrees.

  • Default: [Off]

Blank Page Print

Specify whether to print blank pages.

  • Default: [On]

Edge Smoothing

Specify whether to smooth along the edges of diagonal lines.

  • Default: [On]

Toner Saving

Specify whether to reduce toner consumption when printing. When this setting is enabled, print quality may be degraded.

  • Default: [Off]

Letterhead Setting

Specify whether to print on paper that has a fixed print side or print direction (letterhead paper, for example).

  • Default: [Auto Detect]

Loading Orientation-fixed Paper or Two-sided Paper

Tray Setting Priority

Specify whether to give priority to the settings specified by the printer driver or the print command (paper size or paper type), or to the settings specified on the control panel. You can specify the following setting items for the bypass tray. For Trays 1 to 5, you can specify either [Driver/Command] or [Machine Setting(s)].

  • Driver/Command

    When a paper tray is specified for a print job, the paper settings such as paper size, type, and orientation specified by the printer driver or the print command are applied, regardless of [Tray Paper Settings] specified on the control panel.

  • Machine Setting(s)

    The paper settings specified on the control panel are applied to all print jobs. An error occurs when the paper settings specified by the printer driver or the print command do not match the settings specified on the control panel.

Tray Setting Priority (Continued)

  • Machine Settg(s): Any Type

    When the paper size specified on the control panel matches the one specified by the printer driver or the print command, then the paper type specified by the printer driver or the print command is applied to the print job.

    To use this function:

    • Specify [Bypass Tray] for the input tray using the printer driver.

    • Specify the same paper size in the [Paper Input] on the machine's control panel by the printer driver or print command.

  • Any Size/Type

    When the paper that matches the settings specified by the printer driver or the print command is not loaded in any of the machine's paper trays, printing proceeds with the settings being applied to the bypass tray.

  • Any Custom Size/Type

    When a custom paper size is specified by the printer driver or the print command, and the matching paper is not loaded in any of the machine's paper trays, printing proceeds with the settings being applied to the bypass tray.

  • Default:

    • Bypass Tray: [Driver/Command]

    • Tray 1 to 5: [Machine Setting(s)]

Tray Switching

Specify whether to automatically switch paper trays when paper of the specified size and type is not loaded in the driver-designated tray.

  • Default: [Off]

Extend Auto Tray Switching

Specify whether to automatically switch paper trays, regardless of whether the tray is manually or automatically selected.

  • Default: [Off]

PCL Menu

This section describes the items that are available on [PCL Menu] under [Print Settings].

You can specify conditions for PCL printing.

Orientation

Specify the orientation of the paper.

  • Default: [Portrait]

Form Lines

Specify the number of lines per page from 5 to 128.

RegionA icon (mainly Europe and Asia)

  • Default: [64]

RegionB icon (mainly North America)

  • Default: [60]

Font Source

Specify the storage location of the default font.

[RAM], [HDD], [SD], and [SD Font Download] can be selected only when fonts have been downloaded to the machine.

  • Default: [Resident]

Font Number

Specify the font number of the font to use.

When [Resident] is selected for [Font Source], specify the font number between 0 and 103.

When any font source other than [Resident] is selected, specify the font number between 0 and X (where "X" is the number of downloaded fonts).

  • Default: [0]

Point Size

Specify the point size of the font to use.

The point sizes can be specified from 4.00 to 999.75. This setting is effective only for proportional fonts.

  • Default: [12.00]

Font Pitch

Specify the pitch (character width) for the font to use.

The font pitch can be specified from 0.44 to 99.99. This setting is effective only for monospaced fonts.

  • Default: [10.00]

Symbol Set

Specify the character set of the selected font.

  • Default: [PC-8]

Nimbus Mono Font

Specify the type of the Nimbus Mono font.

  • Default: [Regular]

Ext. A4 Width

Specify whether to print from edge to edge of A4 paper.

  • Default: [Off]

Append CR to LF

Specify whether to append a CR code to each LF code to print text data clearly.

  • Default: [Off]

Resolution

Specify the print resolution in dots per inch.

  • Default: [600dpi]

PS Menu

This section describes the items that are available on [PS Menu] under [Print Settings].

You can specify conditions for PostScript printing.

Description

Job Timeout

Specify which settings take priority for the machine to wait before canceling a print job when reception of the job is interrupted. When [Use Machine Setting(s)] is selected, specify the wait time in seconds (0 to 999).

  • Default: [Use Driver/Command]: [0]

Wait Timeout

Specify which settings take priority for the machine to wait before stopping a print job when the end of the job is not detected. When [Use Machine Setting(s)] is selected, specify the wait time in seconds (0 to 999).

  • Default: [Use Driver/Command]: [300]

Paper Selection Method

Specify how the paper tray is selected by specifying the default value for DeferredMediaSelection in PostScript.

When [Auto Select] is selected, the default value is "true". The paper tray that matches Paper Setting specified in a print job is selected.

When [Select Paper Tray] is selected, the default value is "false". The paper tray is selected according to the media selection of PostScript Language Reference.

  • Default: [Select Paper Tray]

Swtchg btwn 1&2 Sided Prnt

Specify on which side of the paper to print when the PS command is used to perform two-sided printing and the "setpagedevice" command is entered.

When [Active] is selected, the machine cancels two-sided printing and prints pages after the command has been entered on the front side of the paper.

When [Inactive] is selected, the machine performs two-sided printing and prints pages after the command has been entered on the back side of the paper.

  • Default: [Active]

Data Format

Specify the data format to use for printing.

This setting is effective when operating the machine with a connection other than parallel.

  • Default: [TBCP]

Resolution

Specify the print resolution in dots per inch.

  • Default: [600dpi]

Orientation Auto Detect

Specify whether to automatically detect the print data orientation.

  • Default: [On]

Font Change Confirmation

Specify whether to display the confirmation screen when replacing the font type that cannot be printed.

When [Do not Display] is selected, the font type is replaced and printing continues without the confirmation screen being displayed.

  • Default: [Display]

PDF Menu

This section describes the items that are available on [PDF Menu] under [Print Settings].

You can specify conditions for PDF printing.

Change PDF Password

Specify the password for printing PDF files when the password is specified via the network directly.

PDF Group Password

[PDF Group Password] is not available for use on this machine.

Reverse Order Printing

Specify whether to print in reverse order.

  • Default: [Off]

Resolution

Specify the print resolution in dots per inch.

  • Default: [600dpi]

Orientation Auto Detect

Specify whether to automatically detect the print data orientation.

  • Default: [On]

XPS Menu
