Tray Paper Settings

This section describes the user tools in the Tray Paper Settings menu under [System Settings].

For details on how to access Screen Features, see Accessing System Settings.

Important

  • If the specified paper size differs from the actual size of the paper loaded in the paper tray, a misfeed might occur because the correct paper size was not detected.

Paper Tray Priority: Copier

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Paper Tray Priority: Fax

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Paper Tray Priority: Printer

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Tray Paper Size(Dial set to *): Tray 1

Specify the paper size that is not available for selection with the paper size dial on Tray 1.

This setting item appears when "Asterisk" is selected by the paper size dial.

The paper sizes you can set for Tray 1 are as follows:

  • A5Landscape, B5 JISPortrait, B6 JISPortrait, 81/2×13Portrait, 81/4×14Portrait, 81/4×13Portrait, 8×13Portrait,
    8×101/2Portrait, 8×10Portrait, 71/4×101/2Portrait, 16KPortrait, 81/2×132/5Portrait

  • Envelopes

    41/8×91/2Portrait, 37/8×71/2Portrait, 81/2×132/5Portrait, C5 EnvPortrait, C6 EnvPortrait, DL EnvPortrait

  • [Custom Size]

    You can specify a custom size of between 148.0–356.0 mm (5.83–14.01 inches) vertically, and between 80.0–216.0 mm (3.15–8.50 inches) horizontally.

Tray Paper Size(Dial set to *): Tray 2–4 (Tray 2, 3 and 4 are displayed when the paper tray unit is installed.)

Specify the paper size that is not available for selection with the paper size dial on Tray 2-4.

This setting item appears when "Asterisk" is selected by the paper size dial.

The paper sizes you can set for Trays 2–4 are as follows:

  • A5Landscape, B5 JISPortrait, B6 JISPortrait, 81/2×13Portrait, 81/4×14Portrait, 81/4×13Portrait, 8×13Portrait,
    8×101/2Portrait, 8×10Portrait, 71/4×101/2Portrait, 16KPortrait, 81/2×132/5Portrait

  • [Custom Size]

    You can specify a custom size of between 148.0–356.0 mm (5.83–14.01 inches) vertically, and between 80.0–216.0 mm (3.15–8.50 inches) horizontally.

Paper Type: Bypass Tray

Specify whether or not to apply the duplex setting and the auto paper select setting to the paper loaded in the bypass tray.

  • Apply Duplex

    • Yes

    Default: [Yes]

  • Apply Auto Paper Select

    • Yes

    • No

    Default: [Yes]

To specify the paper size and type, use the bypass tray paper settings screen that is displayed when you load the paper in the bypass tray. For details, see "Procedure for Copying from the Bypass Tray (Classic)", Copy.

Paper Type: Tray 1

Set the display so you can see what type of paper is loaded in the Tray 1.

The paper types you can set for the Tray 1 are as follows:

  • [Plain: Hidden], [Recycled Paper], [Color Paper], [Letterhead], [Label Paper], [Preprinted Paper], [Special Paper 1], [Special Paper 2], [Envelope]

The paper thicknesses you can set for the Tray 1 are as follows:

  • [Thin Paper 52–65g/m2] (13–18 lb. Bond)

  • [Plain Paper 1 66–74g/m2] (18–20 lb. Bond)

  • [Plain Paper 2 75–90g/m2] (20–24 lb. Bond)

  • [Middle Thick 91–105g/m2] (24–28 lb. Bond)

  • [Thick Paper 1 106–130g/m2] (28–35 lb. Bond)

  • [Thick Paper 2 131–162g/m2] (35 lb. Bond–90 lb. Index)

  • [Thick Paper 3 163–256g/m2] (90 lb. Index–93 lb. Cover)

Default for "Paper Type": [Plain: Hidden]

If you select [Plain: Hidden], no paper type appears in the message prompting you to select which tray to feed paper from.

Default for "Paper Thickness": [Plain Paper 2 75–90g/m2]

Default for "Apply Duplex": [Yes]

Default for "Apply Auto Paper Select": [Yes]

"Apply Duplex" is not available when [Color Paper], [Label Paper], [Preprinted Paper], [Special Paper2], or [Envelope] is selected.

If [Envelope] is selected for "Paper Type", [Thin Paper], [Plain Paper 1], [Plain Paper 2] and [Middle Thick] are not available.

For details about the recommended conditions for using thick paper, see "Recommended Paper", Specifications.

Paper Type: Tray 2–4 (Tray 2, 3 and 4 are displayed when the paper tray unit is installed.)

Set the display so you can see what type of paper is loaded in Trays 2–4.

The print function uses this information to automatically select the paper tray.

The paper types you can set for Trays 2-4 are as follows:

  • [Plain: Hidden], [Recycled Paper], [Color Paper], [Letterhead], [Label Paper], [Preprinted Paper], [Special Paper 1], [Special Paper 2]

    The paper thicknesses you can set for Trays 2-4 are as follows:

    "Apply Duplex" is not available when [Color Paper], [Label Paper], [Preprinted Paper], or [Special Paper 2] is selected.

    The lock icon is displayed next to the paper tray if [No] is selected in "Apply Auto Paper Select".

Cover Sheet Tray

You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting front cover sheets.

After selecting the paper tray, you can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

If you enable this setting, take note of the following:

When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", front cover sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the front cover sheet tray is always displayed.

Slip Sheet Tray

You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting slip sheets.

You can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

If you enable this setting, take note of the following:

When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", slip sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the slip sheet tray is always displayed.
