Sending Fax Documents Using LAN-Fax

This section explains how to send fax documents created using Windows applications.

To send a fax, simply select [Print...] from the Windows application, then select [LAN-Fax Generic] as the printer, and then specify a destination in the [LAN-Fax] dialog box.

Open an existing document that you want to send.

For details, see the LAN-Fax Driver Help. See Reading the LAN-Fax Driver Help.

When entering a destination directly or using the destination list of the LAN-Fax to specify a destination, you cannot specify a folder destination. To specify an e-mail destination, right-click the icon of the machine that you are using as a LAN-Fax driver, click [Printer Properties], and then click [Enable Email] on the [Options] tab.

1On the [File] menu, click [Print...].

2Select [LAN-Fax Generic] in the list.

3Click [Print].

The setting method may differ depending on the application you are using. In all cases, select [LAN-Fax Generic] for the printer.

4Specify the destination.

To use the LAN-Fax destination list, select destinations from the list on the [Address Book] tab.

To enter destinations manually, enter them on the [Specify Destination] tab.

5Specify necessary options such as [Sending at specific time] and [Email TX results].

6Click [Send].

When you click [Send & Print], the fax is sent to the destination and your machine prints a copy of the document you sent. You can check the images of sent faxes.

Specifying destinations in the machine's Address Book using their registration numbers

For details, see the LAN-Fax Driver Help.

1Click the [Specify Destination] tab.

2Select the [Use device address] check box.

3Enter the registration number of the Address Book in the [Device Address:] box.

4Click [Set as Destination].

5To specify more destinations, repeat Steps 3 and 4.

Reentering a fax number to confirm destination

When the fax number reentry function is enabled on the machine, the LAN-Fax Driver also requires you to reenter the fax number to confirm the destination before the fax is sent.

1Click the [Specify Destination] tab.

2Enter the fax number, and then click [Set as Destination].

3Enter the fax number again, and then press [OK].

Displaying the destination prior to transmission

When the machine is configured to display the specified destination again, the LAN-Fax Driver also displays the specified destination again allowing you to confirm the destination before the fax is sent.

1Specify the destination, and then click [Send].

2Check the specified destination.

To start transmission, click [OK].

To change the destination, click [Cancel], and then change the settings.

Note

  • The machine can retain documents sent from a LAN-Fax Driver as files to be sent. For details about how to store documents, see the LAN-Fax driver Help. See Reading the LAN-Fax Driver Help.

  • For the maximum values of the following items, see Maximum Values:

    • Number of destinations you can specify per file

    • Number of documents sent from a LAN-Fax Driver that the machine can retain as files to be sent

    • Number of digits that can be included in a destination

  • When the computer and machine are connected via USB 2.0, a printing error message such as "This document failed to print" might appear, even though the print job was sent to the machine correctly. If this happens, check the print job transmission result on the machine's control panel. For details about how to check the transmission result, see Checking the Fax Transmission Result (Transmission File Status).
