Preparing Print Server

This section explains how to configure the machine as a Windows network printer. The machine is configured to enable network clients to use it.

This section explains operations using Windows 10 as an example. The procedure may differ depending on the version of the computer you are using.

Important

  • To change printer properties in the [Devices and Printers] window, the following access authentications are required:

    • Windows Server 2008/2008 R2/2012/2012 R2/2016/2019: Management access authentication

    • Windows 7/8.1/10: Full Control access authentication

  • To change printer properties in the [Printer] or [Printers and Faxes] window, log in to the file server as an Administrator or member of the PowerUsers group.

1Right-click on [Start] button, and then click [Control Panel].

The control panel appears.

2When [Category] is selected in [View by:], select [Large icons] or [Small icons].

3Click [Devices and Printers].

4Right-click the icon of the machine you have added, and then click [Printer properties].

The printer properties appear.

5On the [Sharing] tab, click [Share this printer].

6To share the machine with users using a different version of Windows, click [Additional Drivers...].

If you have installed an alternative driver by selecting [Shared] during the printer driver installation, this step can be ignored.

7Click [OK], and then close the printer properties.
