User Code Authentication

You can limit access to functions according to a user code using a web browser from networked computers. (We use Web Image Monitor installed on this machine.) The same user code can be used by multiple users.

For details about specifying user codes, see Web Image Monitor Help.

For details about specifying the user code on the printer driver, see the printer driver Help.

1Open a web browser from a networked computer, and then log in to Web Image Monitor as the machine administrator.

For details on how to log in, see Administrator Login Method.

2Point to [Device Management], and then click [Configuration].

3Click [User Authentication Management] under "Device Settings".

4Select [User Code] in the "User Authentication Management" drop-down list box.

5In "Functions to Restrict", select the machine's functions you want to limit.

The selected functions are subject to User Code authentication. User Code authentication is not applied to the functions not selected.

For details about limiting available functions for individuals or groups, see Limiting Available Functions.

To enable printer job authentication, select any option other than [PC Control].

6Select the "Printer Job Authentication" level.

For details about the printer job authentication levels, see Printer Job Authentication.

If you select [Entire] or [Simple (All)], proceed to Step 8.

If you select [Simple (Limitation)], proceed to Step 7.

7Specify the range in which [Simple (Limitation)] is applied to "Printer Job Authentication".

You can specify the IP address range to which this setting is applied. Also, you can specify whether or not to apply the setting to the parallel and USB interfaces.

8Click [OK].

9Log out.

For details about logging out, see Administrator Logout Method.
