Adding a Virtual Printer

This section explains how to add a virtual printer by using a web browser from networked computers. (We use Web Image Monitor installed on this machine.)

1Start a web browser from a networked computer.

2Enter "http://(machine's IP address or host name) /" in the address bar to access the printer whose settings you want to change.

Top Page of Web Image Monitor appears.

3Click [Login].

The dialog box for entering the user name and password appears.

4Enter the user name and password, and then click [Login].

Contact your administrator for information about the settings.

Depending on the configuration of your Web browser, the login user name and password might be saved. If you do not want to save them, configure your Web browser's settings so that this information is not saved.

5Click [Configuration] on the [Device Management] menu.

6Under "Printer", click [Virtual Printer Settings].

7Click [Add].

8In "Virtual Printer Name", enter a name for the new printer, and then select the protocol in the "Protocol" list.

The following Virtual Printer protocols are available: [TCP/IP (Unspecified, Normal)], [TCP/IP (Unspecified, Priority)], [TCP/IP (RHPP)], and[ TCP/IP (DIPRINT)].

If you select [TCP/IP (DIPRINT)] in the "Protocol" list, you cannot specify a virtual printer name.

9Click [OK].

10Click [Back].

11Under "Printer", click [Basic Settings].

12In "Virtual Printer", select [Active], and then click [OK].

13Click [Logout].

14Quit Web Image Monitor.

Note

  • You can specify a virtual printer name using up to 48 characters.

  • You can add up to 50 virtual printers.
