Solution:

There are two ways to solve this problem, either by applying the recommended settings (simple configuration) or changing the detailed settings (detailed configuration). You can perform the simple configuration only if the magnification to a larger size is insufficient.

<If using paper with paper weight 1 to 6>

(a) Simple configuration

1In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, change the values in 1229: [Paper Transfer Pressure] along with the values in [Paper Transfer Roller] and [Transfer Timing Roller] in 1331: [Motor Speed].

Adjust the value as follows according to the paper thickness (paper weight).

(b) Detailed configuration

1Is the magnification to a larger size insufficient?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Proceed to step 4.

2In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, change the value in 1229: [Paper Transfer Pressure] or [Paper Transfer Roller] in 1331: [Motor Speed].

<Adjusting [Paper Transfer Pressure]>

Increase the value.

"Pressure 5" is the lowest pressure.

Try changing the value in the order of "Pressure 5", "Pressure 1", and "Pressure 2".

<Adjusting [Paper Transfer Roller] >

Adjust the cursor to [plus] from the present value.

Adjust the value within the following range according to the paper thickness (paper weight).

[Paper Transfer Roller] (%)

If you change the [Paper Transfer Roller] setting, also change the [Transfer Timing Roller] setting in 1331: [Motor Speed] according to the changed [Paper Transfer Roller] setting. The setting depends on the paper thickness (paper weight). For details about adjusting the settings according to the paper thickness (paper weight), see Adjusting Motor Speed.

If an image problem in the area extending approximately 127 mm (5 inches) from the trailing edge occurs, see Uneven Density within 127 mm (5 inches) from the Trailing Edge.

Repeat this procedure from Step 1.

If the problem persists even if you change all the settings, contact your service representative.

4In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, change the value in 1229: [Paper Transfer Pressure] or [Paper Transfer Roller] in 1331: [Motor Speed].

<Adjusting [Paper Transfer Pressure]>

Decrease the value.

<Adjusting [Paper Transfer Roller Feed Speed]>

Adjust the cursor to [minus] from the present value.

Adjust the value within the following range according to the paper thickness (paper weight).

[Paper Transfer Roller] (%)
