Solution:

The problem may be solved by increasing the paper transfer pressure or adjusting the paper transfer output.

If white spots appear on indentations regardless of the image density

1In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, select 1229: [Paper Transfer Pressure]. Is it set to [Pressure 4]?

Yes

Proceed to Step 4.

No

Go to the next step.

2Increase the value in 1229: [Paper Transfer Pressure] by 1 level.

3Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

No

Repeat Steps 1 to 3.

4In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, adjust the settings for paper transfer output.

Change the value of the print side affected by the problem.

<Printing in full color>

Select 1214: [Paper Transfer Output], and then adjust the cursor in [Side 1] or [Side 2] in [FC] to [plus] in steps of 2.

<Printing in black and white>

Select 1214: [Paper Transfer Output], and then adjust the cursor in [Side 1] or [Side 2] in [BW] to [plus] in steps of 2.

5Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

No

Repeat Steps 4 to 5.

If white spots appear on indentations differently depending on the image density

1Do white spots appear more frequently on solid-fill parts than on half-tone parts?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Proceed to Step 4.

2In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, adjust the settings for paper transfer output.

Change the value of the print side affected by the problem.

<Printing in full color>

Select 1214: [Paper Transfer Output], and then adjust the cursor in [Side 1] or [Side 2] in [FC] to [plus] in steps of 2.

<Printing in black and white>

Select 1214: [Paper Transfer Output], and then adjust the cursor in [Side 1] or [Side 2] in [BW] to [plus] in steps of 2.

3Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

No

Repeat Steps 2 to 3.

4In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, adjust the settings for paper transfer output.

Change the value of the print side affected by the problem.

<Printing in full color>

Select 1214: [Paper Transfer Output], and then adjust the cursor in [Side 1] or [Side 2] in [FC] to [minus] in steps of 2.

<Printing in black and white>

Select 1214: [Paper Transfer Output], and then adjust the cursor in [Side 1] or [Side 2] in [BW] to [minus] in steps of 2.

5Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

No

Repeat Steps 4 to 5.

Note

  • You may not be able to resolve the white spots on both half-tone and solid-fill parts at the same time.

  • In the case of textured paper with relatively shallow indentations, the problem may be solved by decreasing the value of [Paper Transfer Pressure].

  • Note that if you set [Paper Transfer Pressure] to [Pressure 5], the pressure becomes lower than [Pressure 1].

  • If mottling or white spots appear in low-density areas, decreasing this value may reduce the problem. In high-density areas, increasing this value may reduce the problem.

  • Whether you should increase or decrease the value depends on the paper type and printed image. Try both according to the printed result.
