Solution:

Carry out the following sequence of procedures. Terminate the sequence as soon as the problem is resolved.

(a) Specifying the area to be adjusted

1Measure by a ruler or other device the length (in mm) of the area from the leading edge of the paper where the print is faint or dense.

2In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, specify the area to apply the transfer output at the leading edge of the paper.

<Printing in black and white>

Select 1217: [Paper Transfer Output Correction: Paper Edge], and then select [Leading Edge Length] of [BW] and enter the value which is 5 mm higher than the value measured in Step 1.

<Printing in full color>

Select 1217: [Paper Transfer Output Correction: Paper Edge], and then select [Leading Edge Length] of [FC] and enter the value which is 5 mm higher than the value measured in Step 1.

3Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

No

Go to the next step.

4In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, select 1217: [Paper Transfer Output Correction: Paper Edge], and then make a note of the following values:

<Printing in black and white>

[Leading Edge] of [BW]

<Printing in full color>

[Leading Edge] of [FC]

5Decrease these values by 10 percentage points.

6Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Restore the previous setting changed in Step 5, and then perform "(b) Decreasing the paper transfer output correction value".

No

Restore the previous setting changed in Step 5, and then perform "(c) Increasing the paper transfer output correction value".

(b) Decreasing the paper transfer output correction value

1In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, select 1217: [Paper Transfer Output Correction: Paper Edge], and then decrease the value of the following settings by 5 percentage points.

<Printing in black and white>

[Leading Edge] of [BW]

<Printing in full color>

[Leading Edge] of [FC]

2Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

No

Repeat Steps 1 and 2. If the problem persists even though you have decrease the value to "-10", carry out the procedure in see Horizontal Streaks at the Area within 20 mm (0.8 inches) from the Leading Edge.

(c) Increasing the paper transfer output correction value

1In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, select 1217: [Paper Transfer Output Correction: Paper Edge], and then increase the value of the following settings by 5 percentage points.

<Printing in black and white>

[Leading Edge] of [BW]

<Printing in full color>

[Leading Edge] of [FC]

2Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

No

Repeat Steps 1 and 2. If the problem persists even though you have increase the value to "10", carry out the procedure in see Horizontal Streaks at the Area within 20 mm (0.8 inches) from the Leading Edge.
