Tray Paper Settings

This section describes the user tools in the Tray Paper Settings menu under System Settings.

Important

  • If the specified paper size differs from the actual size of the paper loaded in the paper tray, a misfeed might occur because the correct paper size was not detected.

Paper Tray Priority: Copier (copier/Document Server)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Paper Tray Priority: Fax (facsimile)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Paper Tray Priority: Printer (printer)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Tray Paper Size: Tray 2 - 3

Select the size of the paper loaded in the paper tray.

The paper sizes you can set for tray 2 - 3 are as follows:

You can specify a custom size of between 100.0 - 330.2 mm (3.94 - 13.00 inches) vertically, and between 139.7 - 487.7 mm (5.50 - 19.20 inches) horizontally.

Printer Bypass Paper Size

Specify the size of the paper loaded in the bypass tray.

The paper sizes you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:

The paper sizes 37/8 × 71/2Portrait and 37/8 × 71/2Landscape can be selected only when the copy tray, Finisher SR4120, or Booklet Finisher SR4130 is specified as the output tray.

The paper sizes 41/8 × 91/2Portrait and DL Env.Portrait can be selected only when the copy tray is specified as the output tray.

If Finisher SR4110 is installed, the following paper sizes cannot be selected:

41/8 × 91/2Portrait, 41/8 × 91/2Landscape, C6 Env.Portrait, DL Env.Portrait, DL Env.Landscape

If Finisher SR4110, the folding unit, or the multi-hole punch unit is installed, you cannot specify a custom size of 90 – 100 mm or less vertically.

You can specify a custom size of between 90.0 - 330.2 mm (3.55 - 13.00 inches) vertically, and between 139.7 - 487.7 mm (5.50 - 19.20 inches) horizontally.

To allow users to specify a horizontal dimension of 487.8 - 1260 mm (19.21 - 49.60 inches) in "Custom Size", the copy tray, Finisher SR4110, Finisher SR4120, or Booklet Finisher SR4130 must be specified as the output tray. For details about specifying custom paper sizes, contact your sales or service representative.

Tray Paper Size: Interposer Upper Tray, Lower Tray (when the twin interposer is installed.)

Specify the size of the paper loaded in the twin interposer.

The paper sizes you can set for the twin interposer are as follows:

Tray Paper Size: LCT (when the wide LCT is installed.)

Specify the size of the paper loaded in the wide LCT.

The paper sizes you can set for the wide LCT are as follows:

If you use paper size of B6 JISLandscape, A6Landscape, 41/8 × 91/2Landscape, C6 Env.Landscape, or DL Env.Landscape, the fence for postcard is necessary.

If you specify a custom size of between 100 and 139.2 mm vertically, the fence for postcard is necessary.

If Finisher SR4110 is installed, the following paper sizes cannot be selected:

41/8 × 91/2Landscape, C6 Env.Landscape, DL Env.Landscape

Set the display so you can see what type of paper is loaded in the bypass tray.

If [Translucent Paper] is selected for "Paper Type", only [Thin Paper] is available.

If [Envelope] is selected for "Paper Type", [Thin Paper], [Plain Paper 1], [Plain Paper 2], [Middle Thick] and [Thick Paper 1] are not displayed.

Depending on the selected paper type, some of the default paper thickness vary as follows:

  • [Tab Stock]: [Thick Paper 1]

  • [Envelope]: [Thick Paper 2]

The lock icon is displayed next to the paper tray if [No] is selected in "Apply Auto Paper Select".

Under the copier function, "Apply Auto Paper Select" is only available when [Plain: Hidden] or [Recycled Paper] is selected as a paper type. "Apply Auto Paper Select" is unavailable when this setting or "Apply Duplex" is set to [No] or when [Custom Size] is selected as a paper size.

Paper Type: Tray 1

Set the display so you can see what type of paper is loaded in the tray 1.

The print function uses this information to automatically select the paper tray.

If [Translucent Paper] is selected for "Paper Type", only [Thin Paper] is available.

If [Envelope] is selected for "Paper Type", [Thin Paper], [Plain Paper 1], [Plain Paper 2], [Middle Thick] and [Thick Paper 1] are not displayed. In addition, the paper thickness, the number of loaded sheets, and the paper feed direction must be specified.

If [Coated: H.Glss], [Coated: Glossy], or [Coated: Matte] is selected for "Paper Type", [Thin Paper] is not displayed.

If you select [Coated: H.Glss], [Coated: Glossy], or [Coated: Matte], use paper with the paper thickness of 73.3 g/m2 or more.

Depending on the selected paper type, some of the default paper thickness vary as follows:

  • [Tab Stock]: [Thick Paper 1]

  • [Envelope]: [Thick Paper 2]

The lock icon is displayed next to the paper tray if [No] is selected in "Apply Auto Paper Select".

Under the copier function, "Apply Auto Paper Select" is only available when [Do not Display] or [Recycled Paper] is selected as a paper type. "Apply Auto Paper Select" is unavailable when this setting or "Apply Duplex" is set to [No] or when [Custom Size] is selected as a paper size.

Front Cover Sheet Tray

You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting front cover sheets.

After selecting the paper tray, you can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

If you enable this setting, take note of the following:

When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", front cover sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the front cover sheet tray is always displayed.

Back Cover Sheet Tray

Specify which paper tray you want to load the back covers from, and make sure confirmation of your setting is displayed. When you have selected the tray, specify the confirmation timing and the copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

When [At Mode Selected] is selected, back cover sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected.

When [Full Time] is selected, the back cover sheet tray is always displayed.

Slip Sheet Tray

You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting slip sheets.

You can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

If you enable this setting, take note of the following:

When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", slip sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the slip sheet tray is always displayed.

Separation Sheet Tray

You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting separation sheets.

You can also specify the display timing.

Default: [Off]

If you enable this setting, take note of the following:

When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", separation sheet tray settings only appear when the separation sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the separation sheet tray is always displayed.

Designation Sheet 1 Tray, Designation Sheet 2 Tray, Designation Sheet 3 Tray, Designation Sheet 4 Tray, Designation Sheet 5 Tray, Designation Sheet 6 Tray, Designation Sheet 7 Tray

Specify which paper tray you want to load the chapter division sheets from, and make sure confirmation of your setting is displayed. When you have selected the tray, specify the confirmation timing and the copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

When [At Mode Selected] is selected, designation sheet 1 tray, designation sheet 2 tray, designation sheet 3 tray, designation sheet 4 tray, designation sheet 5 tray, designation sheet 6 tray, or designation sheet 7 tray settings only appear when the cover function, slip sheet function or designation sheet tray is selected.

When [Full Time] is selected, the designation sheet 1 tray, designation sheet 2 tray, designation sheet 3 tray, designation sheet 4 tray, designation sheet 5 tray, designation sheet 6 tray, or designation sheet 7 tray is always displayed.

Double Feed Detect

Set whether to detect the double feed for each tray.

Default: [On]

Auto Detect: Switch Paper Size Detected Legal/Oficio

Specify which paper size the machine detects automatically, Legal or Oficio.

Default: [Legal (81/2 × 14)]

Note

  • The paper guide for Tray 1 and the LCT is fixed for the specific size paper. Contact your service representative if you need to change the paper size.

  • Functions using the front cover sheet tray setting are the front cover function and front/back cover function.

  • The function for using Designation sheet 1 tray, Designation sheet 2 tray, Designation sheet 3 tray, Designation sheet 4 tray, Designation sheet 5 tray, Designation sheet 6 tray, or Designation sheet 7 tray is designate.
