Using Erase All Memory

Press the [Menu] key, and then select setting items using the [Down arrow key] or [Up arrow key] key.

1Disconnect communication cables connected to the printer.

2Log in as the machine administrator from the control panel.

3Select [Security Options] Press [OK]

4Select [Erase All Memory] Press [OK]

5Select the method of erasing the data from [NSA], [DoD], or [Random Numbers]. Press [OK]

If you select [Random Numbers], proceed to Step 6.

If you select [NSA] or [DoD], proceed to Step 7.

6Enter the number of times that you want to overwrite. Press [OK]

7Select [Yes].

8When overwriting is completed, press [Exit], and then turn off the main power.

1Disconnect communication cables connected to the printer.

2Log in as the machine administrator from the control panel.

3Display the “Erase All Memory” screen.

[System Settings] [Administrator Tools] [Erase All Memory]

4Select the method of overwriting.

NSA

[NSA] [Erase]

DoD

[DoD] [Erase]

Random Numbers

[Random Numbers] [Number of Erase] Enter the number of times that you want to overwrite [OK] [Erase]

BSI/VSITR

[BSI/VSITR] [Erase]

Secure Erase

[Secure Erase] [Erase]

Format

[Format] [Erase]

5Press [Yes].

The printer restarts automatically, and then overwriting starts.

6When overwriting is completed, press [Exit], and then turn off the main power.

Before turning the power off, see "Turning On/Off the Power", Operating Instructions.

Note

  • If the main power switch is turned off before "Erase All Memory" is completed, overwriting will start over when the main power switch is turned back on.

  • If an error occurs before overwriting is completed, turn off the main power. Turn it on again, and then repeat from Step 2.
