Encrypting Data in the Address Book

Important

  • The printer cannot be used during encryption.

The time it takes to encrypt the data in the Address Book depends on the number of registered users. Encrypting the data in the Address Book may take a long time.

Press the [Menu] key, and then select setting items using the [Down arrow key] or [Up arrow key] key.

1Log in as the user administrator from the printer's control panel.

2Select [Security Options] Press [OK]

3Select [Extended Security] Press [OK]

4Select [Encrypt Address Book] Press [OK]

5Select [On] [Enc.Key]

6Select [Enter] Enter the encryption key Select [Accept]

Enter the encryption key using up to 32 alphanumeric characters.

7Select [Enter] Re-enter the encryption key Select [Accept]

8Select [On] Press [OK].

9Select [OK].

Do not switch the main power off during encryption, as doing so may corrupt the data.

Encrypting the data in the address book may take a long time.

The time it takes to encrypt the data in the address book depends on the number of registered users.

The printer cannot be used during encryption.

Normally, once encryption is complete, [Exit] appears.

If you press [Stop] during encryption, the data is not encrypted.

If you press [Stop] during decryption, the data stays encrypted.

10Select [Exit].

11Press the [Menu] key.

12Log out.

Note

  • If you register additional users after encrypting the data in the Address Book, those users are also encrypted.
