Tray Paper Settings

This section describes the user tools in the Tray Paper Settings menu under System Settings.

Important

  • If the specified paper size differs from the actual size of the paper loaded in the paper tray, a misfeed might occur because the correct paper size was not detected.

Paper Tray Priority: Copier (copier/Document Server)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Paper Tray Priority: Fax (facsimile)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Paper Tray Priority: Printer (printer)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Tray Paper Size: Tray 1

Select the size of the paper loaded in Tray 1.

The paper sizes you can set for Tray 1 are as follows:

  • A5Landscape, B5 JISPortrait, B6 JISPortrait,

    81/2 × 132/5Portrait, 81/2 × 13Portrait, 81/4 × 14Portrait, 81/4 × 13Portrait, 8 × 13Portrait, 8 × 10Portrait,

    71/4 × 101/2Portrait, 16KPortrait

  • [Custom Size]

RegionA icon (mainly Europe and Asia)

Default: [81/2 × 13Portrait]

RegionB icon (mainly North America)

Default: [81/2 × 13Portrait]

You can specify a custom size of between 148.0–356.0 mm (5.83–14.01 inches) vertically, and between 82.0–216.0 mm (3.23–8.50 inches) horizontally.

Tray Paper Size: Tray 2 – 5 (Tray 2 through 5 are displayed when the paper tray units are installed.)

Select the size of the paper loaded in Trays 2 - 5.

The paper sizes you can set for Trays 2 - 5 are as follows:

  • B5 JISPortrait, B6 JISPortrait,

    81/2 × 132/5Portrait, 81/2 × 13Portrait, 81/4 × 14Portrait, 81/4 × 13Portrait, 8 × 13Portrait, 8 × 10Portrait,

You can specify a custom size of between 162.0 – 356.0 mm (6.38 - 14.01 inches) vertically, and between 92.0 - 216.0 mm (3.63 - 8.50 inches) horizontally.

Printer Bypass Paper Size

Specify the size of the paper loaded in the bypass tray when printing data from the computer.

The paper sizes you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:

  • A4Portrait, A5Portrait, A5Landscape, A6Portrait, B5 JISPortrait, B6 JISPortrait,

Paper Type: Bypass Tray

Set the display so you can see what type of paper is loaded in the bypass tray.

The paper types you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:

  • [Do not Display], [Recycled Paper], [Color Paper], [Letterhead], [Label Paper], [Preprinted Paper], [Bond Paper], [OHP (Transparency)], [Special Paper 1], [Special Paper 2], [Special Paper 3], [Envelope]

The paper thicknesses you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:

  • [Thin Paper] (60 - 63 g/m2, 16 - 17 lb. Bond)

  • [Plain Paper 1] (64 - 74 g/m2, 17 - 20 lb. Bond)

  • [Plain Paper 2] (75 - 90 g/m2, 20 - 24 lb. Bond)

  • [Middle Thick] (91 - 105 g/m2, 24 - 28 lb. Bond)

  • [Thick Paper 1] (106 - 135 g/m2, 28 lb. Bond - 50 lb. Cover)

  • [Thick Paper 2] (136 - 170 g/m2, 50 - 62 lb. Cover)

  • [Thick Paper 3] (171 - 220 g/m2, 62 - 80 lb. Cover)

Default for "Paper Type": [Do not Display]

Default for "Paper Thickness": [Plain Paper 2]

Default for "Apply Duplex": [Yes]

Default for "Apply Auto Paper Select": [Yes]

"Apply Duplex" is available only when [Plain Paper 1], [Plain Paper 2], [Middle Thick]], or [Thick Paper 1] is selected.

"Apply Duplex" is not available when [Label Paper], [OHP (Transparency)], or [Envelope] is selected.

If [OHP (Transparency)] is selected for "Paper Type", "Paper Thickness" is not available.

"Apply Duplex" is not available when [Envelope] is selected.

[Thick Paper 2] and [Thick Paper 3] are only available when [Envelope] is selected.

Cover Sheet Tray

You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting front cover sheets.

After selecting the paper tray, you can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

If you set this setting to [On], take note of the following:

When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", front cover sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the front cover sheet tray is always displayed.

Slip Sheet Tray

You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting slip sheets.

You can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

If you set this setting to [On], take note of the following:

When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", slip sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the slip sheet tray is always displayed.
