This section explains how to configure the machine as a Windows network printer. The machine is configured to enable network clients to use it.
To change printer properties in the [Printer] or [Printers and Faxes] window, the following access authentications are required:
Windows Server 2003/2003 R2/2008/2008 R2/2012/2012 R2: Management access authentication
Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10: Full Control access authentication
To change printer properties in the [Printer] or [Printers and Faxes] window, log in to the file server as an Administrator or member of the PowerUsers group.
Click [Start] button.
The [Start] menu appears.
For Windows 8/8.1, click [Desktop], and then move the cursor to the lower right of the window panel. Click [Settings], and then click [Control Panel].
For Windows 10, right-click the [Start] button, and then click [Control Panel].
Click [Devices and Printers].
For Windows Vista, click [Control Panel], and then click [Printer] under [Hardware and Sound] to display the [Printer] window.
For Windows 8/8.1/10, click [View devices and printers] under [Hardware and Sound].
Right-click the icon of the machine you have added, and then click [Printer properties].
The printer properties appear.
For Windows Vista, right-click the icon of the machine you have added, click [Run as administrator], and then click [Properties].
On the [Sharing] tab, click [Share this printer].
To share the machine with users using a different version of Windows, click [Additional Drivers...].
If you have installed an alternative driver by selecting [Shared] during the printer driver installation, this step can be ignored.
Click [OK], and then close the printer properties.
