Tray Paper Settings

This section describes the user tools in the Tray Paper Settings menu under System Settings.

Important

  • If the specified paper size differs from the actual size of the paper loaded in the paper tray, a misfeed might occur because the correct paper size was not detected.

Paper Tray Priority: Copier (copier/Document Server)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1] (When LCT is not installed.)

Default: [LCT] (When LCT is installed.)

Paper Tray Priority: Fax (facsimile)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Paper Tray Priority: Printer (printer)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Tray Paper Size: Tray 1

Select the size of the paper loaded in Tray 1.

The paper sizes you can set for Tray 1 are as follows:

  • A4Portrait, B5 JISPortrait, A5Portrait, 81/2 × 11Portrait

RegionA icon (mainly Europe and Asia)

Default: [A4Portrait]

RegionB icon (mainly North America)

Default: [81/2 × 11Portrait]

Tray Paper Size: Tray 2

Select the size of the paper loaded in Tray 2.

The paper sizes you can set for Tray 2 are as follows:

You can specify a custom size of between 90.0 - 320.0 mm (3.55 - 12.59 inch) vertically, and between 148.0 - 457.2 mm (5.83 - 18.00 inch) horizontally.

Tray Paper Size: Tray 3 - 4 (When the Lower Paper Tray or Lower Paper Trays are installed.)

Select the size of the paper loaded in Trays 3 - 4.

The paper sizes you can set for Trays 3 - 4 are as follows:

Tray 4 is displayed only when the lower paper trays are installed.

You can specify a custom size of between 90.0 - 320.0 mm (3.55 - 12.59 inch) vertically, and between 148.0 - 457.2 mm (5.83 - 18.00 inch) horizontally.

Printer Bypass Paper Size

Specify the size of the paper loaded in the bypass tray when printing data from the computer.

You can specify a custom size of between 90.0 - 320.0 mm (3.55 - 12.59 inch) vertically, and between 148.0 - 600.0 mm (5.83 - 23.62 inch) horizontally.

To allow users to specify a horizontal dimension of 600 - 1260 mm (5.83 – 49.60) in "Custom Size", other settings must first be specified. For details about specifying custom paper sizes, contact your sales or service representative.

Paper Type: Bypass Tray

Set the display so you can see what type of paper is loaded in the bypass tray.

The paper types you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:

  • [Do not Display], [Recycled Paper], [Color Paper], [Letterhead], [Label Paper], [Preprinted Paper], [Bond Paper], [Cardstock], [OHP (Transparency)], [Special Paper 1], [Special Paper 2], [Special Paper 3], [Envelope], [Coated: Matte], [Coated: Glossy]

The paper thicknesses you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:

  • [Thin Paper] (52 - 59 g/m2, 14 - 15 lb. Bond)

  • [Plain Paper 2] (75 - 81 g/m2, 20 lb. Bond)

  • [Middle Thick] (82 - 105 g/m2, 20 - 28 lb. Bond)

  • [Thick Paper 1] (106 - 169 g/m2, 28 lb. Bond - 90 lb. Index)

  • [Thick Paper 2] (170 - 220 g/m2, 65 - 80 lb. cover)

  • [Thick Paper 3] (221 - 256 g/m2, 80 lb. Cover - 140 lb. Index)

If [Envelope], [Coated: Matte], or [Coated: Glossy] is selected for "Paper Type", [Thin Paper], [Plain Paper 1], and [Plain Paper 2] are not available.

If [OHP (Transparency)] is selected for "Paper Type", "Paper Thickness" is not available.

The lock icon is displayed next to the paper tray if [No] is selected in "Apply Auto Paper Select".

Under the copier function, "Apply Auto Paper Select" is only available when [Do not Display] or [Recycled Paper] is selected as a paper type. "Apply Auto Paper Select" is unavailable when this setting or "Apply Duplex" is set to [No] or when [Custom Size] is selected as a paper size.

Paper Type: Tray 1

Set the display so you can see what type of paper is loaded in Tray 1.

The print function uses this information to automatically select the paper tray.

The paper types you can set for Tray 1 are as follows:

Cover Sheet Tray

You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting front cover sheets.

After selecting the paper tray, you can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

If you enable this setting, take note of the following:

When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", front cover sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the front cover sheet tray is always displayed.

Slip Sheet Tray

You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting slip sheets.

You can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

If you set this setting to [On], take note of the following:

When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", slip sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the slip sheet tray is always displayed.

Auto Detect: Switch Paper Size Detected Legal/Oficio

Specify which paper size the machine detects automatically, Legal or Oficio.

Default: [Legal (81/2 × 14)]

Note

  • The paper guide for the LCT is fixed for A4, 81/2 × 11 size paper. Contact your service representative if you need to change the paper size.
