Moving the Machine on the Same Floor

CAUTION

  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet before you move the machine. While moving the machine, take care that the power cord is not damaged under the machine. Failing to take these precautions could result in fire or electric shock.

  • When disconnecting the power cord from the wall outlet, always pull the plug, not the cord. Pulling the cord can damage the power cord. Use of damaged power cords could result in fire or electric shock.

Important

  • Be careful when moving the machine. Take the following precautions:

    • Turn off the main power. For details about how to turn the main power off, see Turning off the main power.

    • Close all covers, including the front cover and the original cover.

    • Set the output basket to its original position.

    • Be sure to keep the machine level. If it is unduly tilted, ink will leak from the ink collector unit or the print cartridge. Rough handling may cause a malfunction or damage the hard disk or memory, resulting in loss of stored files.

    • Grip the handles firmly before moving the machine.

    • After moving the machine, use the caster fixtures to set it in place. If the floor is not level, the machine may need to be leveled. Contact your service representative, who can provide leveling for a fee.

    • Protect the machine from strong shocks. Impact can damage the hard disk and cause stored files to be lost. As a precautionary measure, files should be copied to another computer.
