If Printing Cannot Be Performed as Intended

The entire area on the paper is specified as the output size, or the plotting origin of the data is not properly specified.

When "Paper Size" is selected for "23. Printable Area (Hard Clip)" on the RPGL Menu, the printable area of the machine is ignored. The entire area of the paper up to its edge is used for printing, but printing in the area 5 mm from each edge (top, bottom, left and right) of the paper is not guaranteed.

Check the settings for "Feed Timeout" under "Printer Features" of the machine.

Such a case may occur if the setting for "Feed Timeout" is too short. The duration that the data transmission is disrupted may differ depending on your application or operating environment, and you need to specify a value that is suitable for your environment in "Feed Timeout".

The plotting origin of the data sent from the computer is not properly positioned. Use the settings for "7. Adjust Origin: Offset X-axis" and "8. Adjust Origin: Offset Y-axis" on the RPGL Menu to adjust the position of the drawing.

Modify the setting in "44. Raster Image Density" on the RPGL Menu to "Dark" when "RP-GL/2 (Type1)" is selected in "6. Plotter ID".

Modify the following settings:

• Increase the line width.

• Select a darker color.

If "57. Pen 0 Settings" - "56. Pen 15 Settings" on the RPGL Menu have been configured, change the pen density settings when printing in black and white.

Some applications may select No. 0 pen for output in certain cases. When printing in black and white, no line is printed if the density of the No. 0 pen is not changed from its default value (0%). Change the density of the No. 0 pen to a darker value.

When a drawing is printed in half tone or black and white, solid lines may appear dotted or broken, or may not appear at all, depending on the drawing position. If this occurs, set the line width to a wider value, or increase the density.

"40. Pen Setting Priority" is only valid for RP-GL/2.

Characters can only be printed using an outline font when the data is sent by the font command (LB command). Configure the application you are using to output characters in character codes.

The plotting origin is improperly placed. Check the settings for "6. Plotter ID" on the RPGL Menu. The plotting origin on "7475A", "7550A" and "RP-GL/2" is located in the bottom left corner. On other plotters, it is located in the center.

When "Driver / Command" is selected in "40. Pen Setting Priority" on the RPGL Menu, the pen width and density specified on the RPGL Menu are ignored, and those specified on the application side are applied.

In order to specify the pen width and density on the RPGL Menu, select "Machine Setting(s)" in "40. Pen Setting Priority".

"40. Pen Setting Priority" is only valid for RP-GL/2.

Set the printing option as follows.

• "Auto (Drawing)", "Thin lines", or "Compatibility" in "82. Dithering"

When printing on paper set in landscape orientation, select "On" in "93. Auto Rotation for Landscape Printing" on the RPGL Menu. If the problem persists even after selecting "On", select "Off" for the setting, or select "90 degrees" or "270 degrees" in "5. Axis Rotation".

When printing on paper set in portrait orientation, select "90 degrees" or "270 degrees" in "5. Axis Rotation".

Select either "Auto 2: Long Edge and Short Edge" or "Auto 2 + Red/Enlg Ratio: Paper Size" in "43. Method to Auto Select Paper Tray" on the RPGL Menu. If a paper tray is still not automatically selected even after the setting is changed, select "Entire Image" or "Auto" in "47. Method to Determine Original Size".

Select either "Entire Image" or "Auto" in "47. Method to Determine Original Size" on the RPGL Menu.

Select the option suited for sent data in "82. Dithering" on the RPGL Menu.

If "Compatibility" is selected, the output is same as printing done with conventional RP-GL/2.

• For RP-GL, centering may not be performed correctly in some cases if "PS/IP Command" is selected for "47. Method to Determine Original Size" on the RPGL Menu. If this is the case, select "Entire Image".

• For RP-GL/2, centering may not be performed correctly if "PS/IP Command" is selected for "47. Method to Determine Original Size" on the RPGL Menu in some cases. The margins may be included as part of the image to be centered. If this is the case, select "Entire Image".

Select "Entire Image" in "47. Method to Determine Original Size" on the RPGL Menu, or configure "48. Margin Adjustment for Original Size".

Select "Org Sz Dtrmnd + R/E Ratio: Cor Valu" in "43. Method to Auto Select Paper Tray" on the RPGL Menu.

Specify the values on the submenu.

Check custom sizes in the Print Settings List (RPGL).

Change the setting for "103. Paper Orientation Priority" on the RPGL Menu. For details, see Changing the Paper Output Orientation.
