Loading Paper into the Bypass Tray

Use the bypass tray to copy onto paper sizes that cannot be loaded on the paper roll trays.

Important

  • Make sure no one climbs, sits, leans on or hangs from it.

  • Do not insert multiple sheets of paper concurrently.

  • Do not load unsupported paper.

  • When you load paper, align the center of it paper with that of the bypass tray.

  • Load paper with the same or greater width as the specified image width.

  • When feeding a long sheet of paper, push it in slightly along the bypass tray paper guides to help the paper feed.

  • When using thin or translucent paper, load the paper in the grain direction.

  • Do not feed paper from the bypass tray while feeding a paper roll.

  • When copying using a sheets of paper with face curls, place it with its curled side face down.

  • When loading paper in the bypass tray, adjust its orientation to load the paper in the grain direction. If you load paper in a cross-grain direction for some reasons and white stripes appear, switch to the mode for thin paper and try copying again.

2Insert the paper copy side up into the bypass tray.

Bring the paper edge flush against the paper feed roller along the bypass tray paper guides. Keep hold of the paper until the roller starts feeding it. The paper is automatically fed and the machine starts copying.
