Solution:

Carry out the following sequence of procedures. Terminate the sequence as soon as the problem is resolved.

Procedure 1: Specifying the area to be adjusted

1Measure by a ruler or other device the length (in mm) of the area from the leading edge of the paper where the print is faint or dense.

2In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, specify the area to apply the transfer current at the leading edge of the paper.

In 028: [Image Trnsf Currnt; Lead Edg Dist: B&W], 040: [Ppr Transfer Current Lead Edg Dist: BW] and 062: [Paper Transfer AC: Lead Edg Dist: B&W], enter the value which is 5 mm higher than the value measured in Step 1.

In 030: [Image Trnsf Currnt; Lead Edg Dist: FC: K], 032: [Image Trnsf Currnt; Lead Edg Dist: FC: C], 034: [Image Trnsf Curnt; Lead Edg Dist: FC: M], 036: [Image Trnsf Currnt; Lead Edg Dist: FC: Y], 046: [Ppr Transfer Current Lead Edg Dist: FC], and 065: [Paper Transfer AC: Lead Edg Dist: FC], enter the value which is 5 mm higher than the value measured in Step 1.

3Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

No

Proceed to "Procedure 2: Increasing the current".

Procedure 2: Increasing the current

1In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, make a note of the following values:

<Printing in black and white>

027: [Image Trnsf Current; Lead Edge: B&W], 039: [Paper Transfer Current; Lead Edge: B&W], 060: [Paper Transfer AC: Lead Edge AC: B&W], and 061: [Paper Transfer AC: Lead Edge DC: B&W]

<Printing in full color>

029: [Image Trnsf Current; Lead Edge: FC: K], 031: [Image Trnsf Current; Lead Edge: FC: C], 033: [Image Trnsf Current; Lead Edge: FC: M], 035: [Image Trnsf Current; Lead Edge: FC: Y], 045: [Paper Transfer Current; Lead Edge: FC], 063: [Paper Transfer AC: Lead Edge AC: FC], and 064: [Paper Transfer AC: Lead Edge DC: FC]

2Increase these values by 10 percentage points.

3Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

No

Increase the value by 5 percentage points.

4Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

No

Proceed to "Procedure 3: Decreasing the current".

Procedure 3: Decreasing the current

1In [Advanced Settings] for the custom paper, make a note of the following values:

<Printing in black and white>

027: [Image Trnsf Current; Lead Edge: B&W], 039: [Paper Transfer Current; Lead Edge: B&W], 060: [Paper Transfer AC: Lead Edge AC: B&W], and 061: [Paper Transfer AC: Lead Edge DC: B&W]

<Printing in full color>

029: [Image Trnsf Current; Lead Edge: FC: K], 031: [Image Trnsf Current; Lead Edge: FC: C], 033: [Image Trnsf Current; Lead Edge: FC: M], 035: [Image Trnsf Current; Lead Edge: FC: Y], 045: [Paper Transfer Current; Lead Edge: FC], 063: [Paper Transfer AC: Lead Edge AC: FC], and 064: [Paper Transfer AC: Lead Edge DC: FC]

2Decrease the value by 10 percentage points.

3Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?

Yes

Finished!

No

Decrease the value by 5 percentage points.

4Print the image. Has the problem been resolved?
